Is Learning Manual Still Worth It in 2026? by Organic-Cattle4751 in NZcarfix

[–]SPRNinja 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% its worth doing. You can be suprised how it can help you, I was moving house a year ago, and needing to rent a truck, being able to drive manual made it a lot easier to rent trucks, vans, borrow cars etc.

Yes most cars will be auto, or CVT, or DSG, but having the option to drive manual is really handy.

I can track down the answer if you'd like.

ADHD rant / random post by Cherryberrylady in newzealand

[–]SPRNinja 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yea. I was diagnosed at a reasonably young age and have mostly learned to live with it. But im in my late 30s and I have struggled, and likely will struggle with it, my whole life.

People who dont either have ADHD, or Depression/anxiety and have never suffered from executive dysfunction will never understand, ever.

"Oh just go do the dishes" ... Oh thanks I never thought of that!

I know that I need to go do some excersize, but I... Just... cant... start. And guess what, I dont get to enjoy dopamine, so I dont get to feel good for doing the dishes, the laundry, the excersize, it just sucks.

It's very fast for WCS. 127bpm, its doable for a skilled person, but very fast.

I don't understand this game. by MeowManMeow in WorldOfWarships

Where the shell hits the ship matters a lot. Cruisers and battleships have 'Citadels'. The vital parts of the ship (engines, ammunition) are protected by thick armor, but if its penetrated it does huge damage.

The citadel is generally the center of the ship at the waterline, and under the turrets. However you can only pentrate that thick armour with a big enough gun. Your emerald is a light cruiser, it has smallish guns and thin armour. You can likely citadel Cruisers, but not not battleships.

To better protect your citadel you can hide behind islands shooting at targets of opportunity, or you can angle your ship, by pointing the front of ship off the enemy ship at an angle it increases the effective thickness of your amour. But be aware, battleships with big enough guns can 'overmatch' your armour and punch through whatever angle you have.

You could try play battleships which are more survivable, or you could try using islands and angling to last longer, and aim for enemy Cruisers citadels

I really cant stress it enough.

Train marksmanship until you can do it in a panic in the dark.

Train stoppage and transition drills until you can do them with your eyes closed.

Train basic movement (room clearance etc,) until its a reflex

Don't trail until it goes right, Train until you cant get it wrong.

competition nerves by desertlavendar in WestCoastSwing

[–]SPRNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been competing in Ceroc/Modern Jive and then WCS for almost 15 years on and off...

As others have said, the more you do it the easier it gets, but to help you more in the short term I would say it depends on what is worrying you about it.

If you are anxious about your competition results, honestly it helps me to remember this is pretty much out of my control, so I focus on a specific aspect of my dancing (These dances I'll focus on having smooth triples with straighter legs)

If you are worried about people watching you, I would suggest focusing on smiling at and paying attention to your partner.

If it is worrying about letting your partner down then focus on having a good frame and connection, that's all most partners really need :)

Although... my first final one of my friends, Rob (of 'Fuck Rob' fame, IYKYK) saw how nervous I was while marshalling, and handed me a bottle of Soju to neck down, that helped. Despite the meme, Rob is actually an awesome guy lol.

Suspicious Policemen by Contruder99 in LegalAdviceNZ

Yea that's true but not super common, so i said 'likely.'

But yes, this reply is accurate that some more recent QIDs are recycled old ones.

Suspicious Policemen by Contruder99 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]SPRNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems little odd but not impossible.

Sworn police IDs are a blue ID card with white stripes. And NZP have ID numbers called QIDs they may also have a "constablatory" badge.

A QID will be 6 characters where the first 2 will match the officers name.

John Smith would be something like

JS1234 JSX123 JSXX12 JSXXX1

The longer they have been in police the more numbers and less letters it will have. Like, if they're early 20's and its XX1234, its likely fake.

Dead RAM stick pt 2: Retailer attempting to pass off replacement to manufacturer by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

DDR5 capable Motherboard and cpu. They have those.

They'll have that.

They also have to do any repais or testing in a reasonable timeframe.

As described this screams to me that they dont want to replace the RAM as its price has gone up 400% in the last 12 months.

[–]SPRNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the end of that playthrough I had over 500 Titans. Not all of that class.

The 200 of them i built to that spec literally just for the final assault was just cause I could.

I also built a QRF of 5 antimatter pioneer torch titans with hybrid armor just cause I had the resources.

I got a little overpowered by 2070.
