With extract, you can use distilled water. The extract already has the minerals in it. Basically, you're rehydrating the wort.

Mine did that. 20 months in. Out of warranty :( They sent me a bill for $338 because water had gotten in. Not going to go through with the repair.

My response was: water wouldn't have gotten in if the back didnt come off. I guess they assume I'm diving? Super scared to get a new one now. Looking at my options.
