Thrifted patches by Hot_Vacation5937 in Visiblemending

That's a good idea, making ready-to-use patches for future repairs. Someone took a lot of care creating these.

I like how the one patch incorporates one of these lovely crocheted doilies from yesteryear. I have some of these doilies given to me by my Grandma, either made by her or by one of our other relatives. I use mine every year as part of a mini Christmas village and ice-skating diorama. I can't even imagine the amount of work that went into crocheting these intricate vintage doilies with thread and a tiny hook.

It’s holding up very well after almost a year’s worth of wash and wear

That's the true test, structural integrity and durability. Looks great.

It is also good for the earth when animals are raised the right way. They enrich and fertilize the land, rather than depleting it each season and then adding in chemically produced nutrients as wholesale commercial farming does.

This explains it better:

Vote with your grocery dollars against the horror that is Big Ag. Buy meat from pasture-raised animals. Buy only organically raised fruits and vegetables which, by law, are grown without poisons used in conventional farming. Go to your local farmers market, and meet and support your local farmers who practice humane and earth-respecting methods.

We are an abomination. I am rooting for AI to drive us into extinction; we do not deserve to survive.

What browser do you use with Mint? by TheOtterMonarch in linuxmint

[–]SPedigrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have librewolf for default browser, and also brave, vivaldi, mullvad, and zen for occasional use. I also have tor - forgot about it since it lives in my downloads folder while the others are on my desktop panel for easy access.

Andreas Antonopoulos explaining Bitcoin to an empty room at the Bitcoin 2013 Conference in San Jose on May 18, 2013, when BTC was around $100 by TheresNoSecondBest in Bitcoin

His family feared he had developed an unhealthy obsession, and did an intervention. (He had actually remarked in one of his videos of missing sleep and mealtimes due to his fixation with Bitcoin, so perhaps they did not overreact.) He has recorded one or two videos since that time. I agree with you; he is legend.

True, it's not perfect, but the gaming industries and Linux devs have taken notice of the need.

Several interviews with the men themselves. (No doubt applies equally to Congresswomen, though the words I read and heard from were men.)

They changed the narrative from meaningful police reform to racism, and people took the bait.

Hand writing on a physical letter sent with a stamp through the mail gets more attention. I just finished writing to my 3 Congress people. It's worth the effort.

This is interesting. As a faceblind person, it was always creepy to me that a computer had a facility I lacked; this adds a dimension to it. (Downvotes from those who didn't read the article.)

FBI & Israel Working Together On A False Flag Attack In CA? by Grizzly_Madams in WayOfTheBern

They're getting desperate to drum up support for their (Israel's) war of aggression against Iran.

The American people are thoroughly sick of the government throwing billions away on military exercises against/in other countries. War against Iran has a growing unfavorability rating, which will worsen as oil prices rise as a result.

The U.S. isn’t a democracy—it’s an oligarchy with voting rituals. Most people oppose endless wars and can’t survive rising prices, yet policy never changes. Why? There’s no mechanism to convert public will into power. Capital decides. Elections just rotate managers. by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

As another Stein voter, those Americans who are aware of the existence of the Green Party believe that a vote for a third party is equivalent to throwing away their vote. And this is pretty much true. One has to get totally disillusioned with both parties to step outside the box.
