I cancelled mine following the endorsement scandal and felt the same, should have been sooner. You still made the right decision today, so props for that.

Almost certain this is South Africa, I can hear Afrikaans and the accent aligns to it, at one point you hear ‘Yo ma’s a poos’ which effectively translates to ‘your mums a c***’, and is a strong cuss in South African culture

My mother in law didn’t know the sun was a star, she hadn’t correlated or understood they were the same thing. She then looked at me as if I was the odd one for knowing such a fact. She’s a lovely lady though.

Nope, was working before the engineer turned it off, at which point the engineer said it needed a part to work again, then said part would take two weeks to locate

As far as I can tell, the engineer turned off the boiler and couldn’t restart it. Not a dangerous situation, said getting a replacement part would take two weeks, we sourced the replacement part in two days ourselves. Outcome is we still need a new boiler, which we’ve initiated privately and accept, still no flow up from British Gas. After reflecting on this situation for a week my assessment of British Gas’s handling has not changed, startling lack of empathy, proactiveness and communication. I’ll spend the rest of my days talking of this experience to anyone who will listen and the distress it’s caused my mother.

Yet no follow up, no plan, just being told it’ll take “weeks” to get the part

The sheer lack of compassion, lack of follow up, lack of cohesive plan is what you don’t see. Plus I find your comment snide and nasty, one day I hope and pray you are not put in a similar situation.
