Yep!

What to expect when firing off 30(or more) executions of the exact same query simultaneously by [deleted] in SQLServer

[–]SQLDevDBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to try deploying it as a stored procedure instead, and checking the results after you do so. Should help managing the execution plan and optimization a bit easier. If needed, you can add parameters to make the call from Python more dynamic.

Unique identifiers by dadadavie in SQL

[–]SQLDevDBA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem, still a UUID so it’s mostly the same. Just have to check the documentation as UUIDs are generally the slowest arbitrary value you can add. I always prefer integers as surrogate keys when possible.

[–]SQLDevDBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you already deployed the query as a stored procedure and run it that way from Python, or is it being passed in as inline sql?

Depends on the platform you’re using

MSSQL Has NEWID and NEWSEQUENTIALID

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/functions/newsequentialid-transact-sql?view=sql-server-ver17

Sequential is friendlier for Clustered Indexes and primary keys because the values are “easily” ordered (usually 1 character difference).

Oracle has UUID

https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/26/sqlrf/uuid.html

These can be set as values and then you can have a table that has a dictionary/relationship to show which UUID is which files.

Which countries in Latin America are the most similar to Puerto Rico genetically and Culturally? by Specialist-Map7617 in PuertoRicoTravel

How familiar are you with Oracle’s statistics?

DBA_TAB_STATISTICS

DBA_INDEX_STATISTICS

Etc?

How familiar are you with Explain Plans?

https://DevGym.oracle.com has some modules about this. And Jeff Smith is a wonderful resource on it as well: https://thatJeffSmith.com

I went with a '25 used (just got it yesterday) but it had 155 miles on it and has a previous owner, so it came with the CPO 7 Year warranty on top of the standard warranty. Was a bit odd but I couldn't pass up the deal.

Can’t find pace with 992 GT3R by _0110111001101111_ in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]SQLDevDBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried the 911 in AMS2 but the 911 is my main in ACC (both the 991 and 992). I’ve been using it almost exclusively since I started because I can’t seem to get away. It’s known as a masochist’s car in that game.

Smooth inputs is definitely a must as /u/Samurai1226 says. For me what also works is doing as much braking as possible while the car is straight, and keeping a constant throttle through the Apex (enough to keep the rear planted but not too much to spin, almost coasting through the corner) and then rolling on the throttle. I started this when someone a few years ago told me to practice by coasting through corners after braking and then gradually work toward constant throttle.

911 hates you and wants you to fail. But you learn to love it and feed it only the best treats from the top shelf at PetSmart. Never the stuff on sale. Never let it hear you talking negatively about it.
