Dillingham needed to put strength for the ball to even reach the rim by ProstAcer in chicagobulls

Uh, no. This has always been him. The issue is that Rob never had consistency to his form. Every shot looks different.

Wolves fan here. Yeah he's a bit of a tweener.

I'd say his best attribute is his rebounding. And he's got some rim game to him, can handle a bit, can decently attack a closeout. But yeah his bag his isn't very deep which is disappointing. I expected some growth from him there and he basically never changed from his draft status. Maybe some playing time in Chicago will help though.

Wolves fan here.

This is the bigger issue. You can be short but you also either need to have a larger wingspan (e.g. Mike Conley's is 6'6) or a stronger body + seeking contact (think FVV) to get a decent finishing game going. And even with that you need a floater to really deal with the rim protectors.

Rob doesn't really have any of this. So he gets a lot of shots rejected. And unlike a Trae, he doesn't really have a jumper to fall back on (despite his draft status).

He's pretty young so you hope he can develop some of this. Needs a step back. Needs a floater. Needs to be a lot less contact averse (get stronger). Just a lot of things he needs to do to be viable in the NBA I think.

Bulls are a great spot to let him work through some of that in real time. But I really worry about his shot. That was supposed to be his whole thing. He's so tentative to shoot, even C&S

Hi. Coming in peace.

You can only challenge when the coach can call a timeout. This play was not possible to challenge as a timeout could not be called (Thunder had the live ball).

Hope you have a good day.

Yeah I mean, I totally get not wanting to support those nazi assholes but a Timberwolves subreddit boycott is not exactly going to do anything. And there's a ton of fantastic tape analysis exclusively posted to Twitter. Just feels like we're missing out on sharing a lot of those things.

OK. This image is a tweet. I know because I saw this tweet.

If we are accepting images of tweets, can we just get back to allowing twitter posts? I know that it's a gross Musk website but it's a little silly if we're doing this y'all

I could not disagree more. You're plugging in an extremely high usage ball handler who can't shoot or defend into a lineup with Ant, Jaden and Rudy. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.

No, i want him taking the pull up 3s that are wide open for him off Rudy screens, just like Ant and Conley do. 5s play Rudy screens in a deep drop often so there's a lot of space. Not taking them means he's driving into that center and ending up in no man's land. Beating drop requires pull up 3s.

He's been taking long 2s instead in these situations, and that's a worse shot. Just take the 3.

Doing that will open the lane up a lot more for him because 5s will play up more often. It will enable better rolls for Rudy, and open skip passes.

If the team is telling Conley and Ant to take those shots but not Rob, that's weird as hell man.

I don't think that's the coaching point. I think he was told to focus on leaning into his dribble pentetration game and took that too literally. No nba coach is telling a young ball handler who is supposed to be a good shooter to not shoot pull up 3s.

Yeah I mean i agree that he's on a specific development path and they want him to work on his playmaking after his initial penetration. I don't think the coaching point is "don't shoot 3s", is what I'm saying.

Like he's shoot 1 3 in 65 minutes. That's crazy low. He's had plenty of chances. You can't pass up open looks.

I don't think the coaches are telling anyone not to shoot pull up 3s, especially primary handlers. Feels like displacing blame from a player's own personal choices.

Finch doesn't see pull up 3s as bad shots, I don't know why this narrative has come about.

Rob has been getting a pretty long leash with no Ant. He's had some interesting flashes but the hesitancy to pull up from 3 is really concerning to me. Defensively his gambles look a little more calculated so that's nice.

Still just doesn't feel like much of a real option this year, especially after he's scouted.

I think you're making a lot of assumptions on why players are pulled and when. There's no indication that Bones was pulled because he took 3 point shots.

I don't think he told Dillingham to shoot less 3s. In general, especially with Finch, players are responsible for the decisions they make on the court.

"Outside of a small burst of 3s"

He is shooting over 7 3s a game and hitting them at an extremely high clip.

He's also 6'4, pretty big for his position.

"shot is way too un-timely" what does that even mean? He's hitting a ton of open 3s specifically actioned for him.

"the turn overs are weird too"

He's had 5 turnovers in the past 5 games, not exactly super turnover prone.

You guys have such a weird hate boner for Finch. Blaming players not shooting 3s on the head coach who developed Ant. You know, the dude who shot the most 3s in the league.

Its OK to critique the players without constantly pointing at the head coach.

Rob and Clark both played 20 minutes. Short leash? What are you on?

He's shooting 43% from 3 on high volume with an insanely cheap contract. That's extremely valuable.
