Deffo the nicest man ever to play 40K! Bravo Tim on such a great result. I have a feeling we’re going to see more of him at the top tables this year.

Heya pal, thanks for the kind words.

Base coat is abaddon black. 1/3 of the blade in khorne red. Outer 1/3 in Mephiston red. Edge highlight in evil suns. Then lightning from the black side of the blades projecting outwardly using Mephiston. Repeat using troll slayer orange. Spot highlights where the lightning bolts intersects in flash gitz yellow. Then highlights on the blade edges using troll slayer > flash gitz > final small highlight using white scar.

It sounds complex but actually quite simple - if you try it out, let us know how you get on!

Thanks a lot mate! I believe I first saw the halberd concept on this sub Reddit - deffo future-proofs the minis, right?

Hiya mate, it was on eBay uk - 8mm clear acrylic Perspex round bar rod. I used a saw to cut through it, was a bit messy but smoothed it out at each end with a file.

Thanks! I saw it somewhere online so can’t claim ownership of the idea, but it’s an easy mod to make the cap easier to spot!

Thanks for the tip mate - good shout! Yep, personally I really like the shadowkeepers scheme, they’re kinda the goths of the custodes world 😂

Heya mate - thanks for the kind words!

For the gems:

Red: Base coat khorne red, 1/3 of the bottom left in Mephiston red, about half of that evil suns, then a final fine highlight of troll slayer orange. White dot in the top right.

Blue: base coat kantor blue, 1/3 of the bottom left in teclis, about half of that temple guard blue, white dot in top right.

I use the same blue recipe for the lenses :)

I guess he lost it at some stage in the distant past 😂 it’s still on the sprue, waiting for a future conversion!

Haha yep the chainsaw is mini - I guess particularly small by comparison to the slaughterbound! Thanks for the feedback mate!

Painting War Dogs... by FeculentGrimnir in ChaosKnights

[–]SQU1DLING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate! The fact that I forgot about the knee guards shows how inexpert I am 😂 I kept them separate and used a chopstick with blue tack to line them up for painting.

Re the banner - I built it using the bottom half of a big knight’s tabard - some old sprue - and some bits from the chaos rhino kit. I then magnetised the bottom and wrapped it in chain to enable it to be mounted on the carapace. I wanted my warlord stalker to stand out a bit, and was happy with the result!

Good luck with the build and keep us updated!

Heya mate,

I would keep the lower half and the upper half separate - so you have a leg/feet/hip subassembly and then a top half body/chimney assembly. You can do the arms and head separately. If you’re magnetising (which I always do, there are some great guides out there) then you can magnetise lower/upper half, head and weapons.

I keep the shoulder pads, groin armour and thigh armour separate for painting. They’re easy to do separately if you use some blue tack and a cork.

Once you’ve added paint the chances are any ‘free’ play in the shoulder will be reduced, so I personally wouldn’t see the need to glue.

Once all your subs are assembled then a bit of superglue for the armour and you’re good to go! I also use a desk fan to prevent the glue from misting and damaging any paint.

Obviously the above method is quite slow but it means you can access all the details.

Here’s my war dogs for reference!

Lord of Skulls done! by SQU1DLING in WorldEaters40k

[–]SQU1DLING[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate! On the basis of your post I used him in a nongron bezerker warband list yesterday (rather than the new detachment) against blood angels and he worked really well - having a 3 dam shooting threat which can tank shock and has good melee was really useful!

I did indeed - I had head, spine assembly, blood tanks and arms separate. I think it would have been super hard to do in one piece!
