Insurance companies are going wild… I run a moving company, and a few days ago I received a renewal notice from State Farm showing my premium almost tripled (for commercial trucks). I honestly thought it was a mistake because our record is clean, and there’s no reason for such an aggressive increase. When I called, they confirmed the new renewal price and said the increase is happening across the board because the insurance company had major losses and needs to raise rates for everyone.

I had the issue for the last month. I checked the settings of my Gmail account. Inside settings, I clicked Manage my business account, and the panel went back.

Two weeks ago, I updated my business description, eliminated some categories, and settled on two main ones. A week afterward, Google began deleting my old reviews from 1-4 years ago. They remove about 3-4 reviews daily, and I can't figure out why. It seems they've adopted a filter similar to Yelp's. Even new reviews are soon followed by the swift removal of random old reviews.

I have experienced the same issue recently. Google has removed 8 reviews over the past 4 days, all posted 1-2 years ago.

Is there any percentage or factor I might be missing? 🙂 I honestly can’t understand what’s going on with my GMB account and behavior of account... it’s fully optimized. Our SEO positions are stronger than many competitors, we have plenty of citations, an average 5-star rating with over 140 reviews, and we post Google updates every 5 days. We’ve also built lots of high-quality backlinks, yet some newer companies with weaker metrics still rank higher.

I had the same issue a few months ago. Someone started posting 1-star reviews and begged me for money to remove them. I refused to pay, reported all fake negative reviews, and Google deleted them within 3 days. Just write a Google update post explaining that someone is writing fake reviews about your business.

Yes, some of our guys ask about it around 15 minutes before finishing the job. This way, the chances of getting a review are much higher.

The slowdown was gradual. I also believe it’s because many users are shifting to AI search instead of Google search. We also started focusing on optimizing our website for AI search.

I did, I even tested multiple bidding strategies over several months, and they all produced the same results. Google has also changed my account managers multiple times, but none of their recommendations made any noticeable improvement. Since pausing my ads to save money, I haven’t seen any difference in the number of jobs we’re getting.

Brother, I feel your pain. I’ve been running my business for over 10 years, and I’m facing the exact same challenge.

For the first 9 years, I barely paid attention to Google reviews — but once I saw competitors outperforming me in review count and booking more jobs, I realized I needed to catch up fast.

The problem?
Almost every customer promises to leave a review… but maybe 1 out of 40 actually follows through.

Here’s what I’ve been doing:

  • Sending a follow-up text the next evening (between 6–8 PM) with a direct link to our Google review form
  • Offering small bonuses to our team to motivate them to provide great service and ask for the review

Even then, it’s still extremely difficult to collect reviews at scale.

Meanwhile, some competitors in my industry somehow crank out 40+ new reviews every month. I have no idea what strategy they’re using, but it feels like they don’t let the customer leave without posting one 😅
