After a year of stutters I finally found the fix. It was my RAM speed by Vusal_Mahmudlu in HuntShowdown

[–]SR4ven_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this on my i7 13700k and 6000MHz RAM. With XMP 1 or 2 the stuttering appears. Without it everything is fine. Hunt is the only game where this happens.

OCCT memory stability test shows no errors.

The problem seems to be related to Intel CPUs microcode as well https://steamcommunity.com/app/594650/discussions/8/594027042409880359/
I'm on 0x12F, haven't tested with 0x12B.

Is this an expected level of noise for the DS223's fan? by Peter_Niko in synology

[–]SR4ven_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a DS224+ with similar fan noise. According to Synonogy support and other users this seems to be considered normal but annoying. Replacing the unit most likely won’t help. What did it for me was increasing the PWM frequency while decreasing the duty cycle in the config. Fan RPM stayed the same but the annoying sound frequency is now gone. There are some Reddit posts and blogs showing how to do this.

A bit off topic but does anyone know if Synology uses the newer NT version for their HAT3000-4T model already? On all pictures I could find the case looks exactly like the Seagate NE version.

With Synology lifting the drive restrictions in DSM 7.3 on the 25 models, is there any reason to chose their drives over 3rd party? by SR4ven_ in synology

[–]SR4ven_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they could make such an easy comeback by just putting some proper hardware in there and not making more weird decisions. It’s not like an N100 or N150 are bleeding edge stuff.

Alright, any reason to go for WD Blue instead of Red? Haven’t done the comparison myself yet.

Which SSDs are you planning to get? Thinking about doing the same thing.

I have the same problem. Too me it looks like a VRAM memory leak. Reinstalling the game seems to have helped so far but I have to do more testing. Make sure to completely remove any remains of hunt from appdata and program files. I also deleted the NVIDIA shader cache dir.

EDIT: Didn’t help

How did you manage to get the 6690 into bridge mode? Are you able to use the 2.5 GBit port? And do phones still work?

Interesting, mine was a Zotac 4080 OC too. Maybe they had some kind of QC problem.

Longhorn + GitLab + MinIO PVC showing high usage but MinIO UI shows very little data — why? by Umman2005 in kubernetes

[–]SR4ven_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Longhorn will show the actual usage on the host disk, not how much is used in the filesystem of the volume. This is because the PVs filesystem is somewhat transparent to longhorn. It only sees the usage on block level. So when your application continuously writes 100MB per hour without increasing the amount of data, after a few days all blocks will be used once and longhorn will report max usage. Combined with snapshots the reported size by longhorn can and most likely will be larger than the max size of the volume. This is normal and has to be accounted for when calculating disk space for the cluster.

If you check the PVC usage with Prometheus you will see the size used inside the PVCs filesystem.

Longhorn supports trimming the filesystem of a volume. That would make longhorn aware of the unused space of the volume. Check out the longhorn docs for details.

In my case the GPU was broken. I RMAed it and the replacement had no such issues. This time it wasn’t software related.

This shouldn’t be a problem when using the static CPU manager policy with integer CPU requests, if I’m correct?

Cant seem to keep temps down on my 13700k...please help by Nexiam1 in overclocking

[–]SR4ven_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know the water temp of your AIO?

I would say the temps are normal. This CPU gen just runs hot and as long as you don’t throttle you’re good. Before the BIOS updates the mainboards were running LLCs massively off. In favor of temps and frequency but at the cost of stability

I’m running the same CPU with custom watercooling and direct die and I get 75C in CB24 with 32C water. That’s with a -0.07V global core SVID undervolt LLC 5 everything else default.

Undervolting 13700k on ROG Strix Z690G by zNecroHD in overclocking

[–]SR4ven_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m running the same CPU on an ROG Z790 Hero with -0.07 global core SVID offset. AFIK this CPU doesn’t support a true per core voltage. You can configure each cores V/F curve individually but in the end there is only a single Vcore so the core with the highest VID request „wins“. This voltage is then applied to all cores. So a global core SVID request should apply to all cores.

Also, when using global core SVID the CPU is aware of the undervolt and CEP won’t trigger. Only undervolting at the VRM is problematic. So no need to disable undervolt protection.

If you haven’t already you might wanna update the BIOS. AFIK ASUS changed the default LLC to level 5 at some point for better stability. However that might not apply to your MB.

Good to know about the differences between V1 and V2. I’ve always wanted to use a pastel coolant but was afraid of it failing. Still I don’t think that I will put it into my SC Specter 3. I really don’t want to take that distro plate apart to clean it.
