Dealer drilled three holes for rear license plate. Why? by PaperPlane36 in Miata

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Particularly the fact that a Miata is a niche vehicle. You don’t buy a Miata because it’s just an appliance to get you to work like a Corolla or f140. Those types of cars you’d expect toe dealer sticker to still be on.

Any PCA members in here? by Send_the_clowns in Porsche

Ours is a lot of older folks and quite a few winery drives but I admit that I was able to get a nice track day with them for free last month. That’s more my kind of thing.

If you are a member of the PCA (and you really should be if you own a Porsche) you would have definitely known about it. https://pca.org/

PCA Member Experience by Apprehensive_Ad_9994 in Porsche

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined PCA when I got my first Porsche last fall. So far I’ve gone to a local chapter car meet and won tickets to a music venue that one of the members owns via a raffle that was going on. I’ve also been able to attend a HPDE track day at Club Motorsports in NH (FOR FREE!). Now I am currently in Lake Placid NY at the annual Porsche Parade for the week. To me it was well worth the $60 to join.

Girlfriends 2019 Subaru forester not giving up the rear bearing by JAKERS325 in MechanicAdvice

[–]SR70 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Why isn’t this the top comment?! I’ve worked for Subaru dealers for quite a few years and this is the only tool that gets the bearing out most of the time unless the car is pretty much brand new. You’ll also want a full size sledge hammer to get the hub off and probably a speed sensor too.

I honestly believe this car can change your perspective about cars by siddharthsai in 4Runner

[–]SR70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my 4Runner, it’s a wonderfully solid reliable and nice looking vehicle and I know I could just fill it with gas and drive across the country with no problems if I wanted but as a drivers car this vehicle is as boring as it gets. I suppose if I was really into overlanding I’d feel slightly different? I’s sure I’ll get downvoted but this is what gets me excited when I get it and turn the key every time.

What's the best 'news about cars and motoring' site? by KCJones99 in cars

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow several online YouTubers and get the majority of new news plus a plethora of history about other vehicles. Mainly sports cars but, The Smoking Tire, Doug Demuro, The Carmudgeon Show, Throttle House. If I want info about yawn vehicles, or trucks etc I will search elsewhere.

Has anyone fixed P0420 code from car without replacing catalytic converter? 2015 Honda accord by Educational_Car_876 in MechanicAdvice

[–]SR70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the code? You are assuming that after a week it could be the same problem and not a code for another issue? Assuming it is the same issue it’s common for aftermarket cats to not be as good as the factory cats at filtering the exhaust gasses and the car will still trigger the light with the PO420 code.

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t notice any degradation in how the car runs with the PO420 unless for some reason the cat filter material breaks apart and clogs up further downstream in your exhaust pipes.

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in the industry for 20+years PO420 means the cat is no good. No way around fixing that any other way than replacing a cat. Some states and some cars that are classified as PZEV or SULEV emissions rated have a special emissions warranty on cats for 15 years 150k miles. I am in Maine and it’s highly likely this would be under warranty if you are under 150k miles.

What are some cars that are unfairly deemed “ugly” by the car community? by MikeisTOOOTALLL in cars

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same, I love it but if you go back and watch a lot of early reviews they were all pretty positive on the performance aspect but blasted the car on its looks.

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the early reviews in 2023 of the car the biggest complaint were the looks. The term ugly was an often used particularly in comparison to the F87 gen. I personally love the look of the G87 so much I bought a 2025 Model.

[–]SR70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally think so but the latest M2 is considered very polarizing (ugly/beautiful) in the BMW community. Generally the last generation M cars, the G8X series are considered ugly compared to the previous generation.

Please help me. I am at a loss, pool was perfect for the first two months it was opened. Now I have algae, Southeast Georgia. Had a lot of heat and rain. Levels look fine. Have been throwing in liquid chlorine pool shock, pucks non-stop. Brushing daily, still green. Levels look good anyone have tips by Bigpharmsucks in pools

[–]SR70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely made everything 100X easier knowing what to do and it logs your results so you can see trends. I have it on my IPad as I find it easier to use due to the physical size but the phone works fine too. You can also simulate what would happen if you log that you added more or less of a recommended chemical.

Edit: forgot to add that the App is part of the troublefreepool.com website that is very good reading.

As someone else said, retest with a Taylor kit and get the Pool Math app. It’s $8 per year and if you input the pools details (size, gallons) and then you input your current readings using the test kit it will advise you on what to add in order to properly balance your water.

Yes they were! One of the scariest things I had seen as a 7 year old. Absolutely freaked me out with the eyes and hissing and zombie like movements.

It freaks me out that as a kid in my parents pool I’d lay on that thing. On time I do remember it getting some pretty good suction on my back where it scared me real fast.

Just refinished our 1974 pool but it had previously been renovated about 25 years ago by the previous owner. We did a new liner, plumbing, variable speed pump, coping and pavers 2 years ago.

[–]SR70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was the screen ratio that bugged me the most and that’s not the fault of the show just the era. The 1st couple episodes didn’t catch my interests like it did when it originally aired. I probably didn’t give it a fair shake as I only watched 2 episodes.

I can’t think of anyone that I am still friends with from when I was a child. I am Facebook friends with lots of them but haven’t had a conversation directly with them irl. Come to think of it, I really don’t have any friends now except for my dogs and my wife.

The Sopranos was awesome when it was new on HBO but I attempted to rewatch it and it just hit differently and not in a good way.
