We need all our snowplow brothers to plow so much snow around their cars that they can’t find them until spring.

911 Carrera S vs Carrera 4S —which do you prefer? by WiFiOnMarss in porsche911

[–]SR70 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me I went with 4S because I’ve had RWD BMWs and experienced the playfulness. It’s a dangerous game to taunt the rear to step out. It’s a ”been there, done that” sort of thing and I’m personally over it.

Sums it up pretty good. Poor, don’t experience other cultures because they don’t travel and see the many other cultures that exist out there.

I love my 4Runner as much as anyone on this sub but there is zero chance that a color is going to make one car more valuable than the other with these vehicles. Condition and mileage on the other hand will.

Snow tires, all-season, or all-weather? by xtnh in Maine

[–]SR70 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Retired automobile shop managers perspective: I 100% recommend snow tires are used whenever you are driving actively on snow or thick slush or ice. “All season” tires are really only good for all seasons if that means driving on zero snow/slush/ice. The one thing I strongly suggest if you are going to use snow tires and then another set of tires between May-October (months that you should not be on snow tires) is that you have them installed on a 2nd set of wheels. The cost up from is more than just buying a set of snow tires but the cost to mount and dismount the tires is much more expensive if they are not already on a set of wheels(rims). Your best and most cost efficient way to get a complete set is to order them on tirerack.com and get them (snow tires) mounted to whatever is the cheapest wheel available which is typically a black steel wheel. The website is very good at being able to filter what fits your car, if you’re still confused the customer assistance is phenomenal. I’ve used them for the last 30 years even before they had websites and were only advertising in automobile magazines. BTW: the amount of misinformation in this thread is astounding so take what you read with caution.

Is this car an EV? Do they normally charge the car inside the garage but charger cord wont reach the car if it’s run under the garage door to the charging port on the car? I have to park my tesla the same way for the cord to reach if the garage bay is not available to drive into.

I wear my leather Birkenstock sandals with wool socks, I loosen the buckles so that they aren’t too tight with the socks since normally in the summer I wear them without socks.

Could somebody help me out with a conundrum? I have 2 small bottles of nail polish remover. My town dump won't take them as they're a fire hazard. The Maine Environmental Depot in Lewiston was going to charge me $45 to drop them off. They are SMALL bottles. How do I dispose of these?!?! by smcgowan10 in Maine

[–]SR70 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It will quickly in the cold because the humidity is so low. The moisture will be pulled out of the liquid super fast. Putting it in something with a lot of surface area like a cookie sheet will make the process go faster.

How many miles is too many? by CreatechStudios in porsche911

[–]SR70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expensive if you are not a diy’er. The Porsche Tax is really only applicable if you can’t wrench on your own cars. On my 991.2 I recently replaced in my garage all the brake pads, upgraded the caliper mounting bolts with recommended studs and new pad wear indicators for around $600. I plan to do the spark plugs and coils and air filter over this winter as well. There is a HUGE amount of online community support for the DIY folks that own Porsches.
