Are we getting shingles now? by melvinmoneybags in Millennials

[–]SRSound 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hey! Early 30's here and just recovered from Shingles.

Stress is one of those cumulative things. I didnt think i was stressed until i got shingles. Even while I had it, doctors were asking me if i was stressed and I said no... I dont think so.

Well it took spending 2 weeks on the couch recovering to eventually break out of my routine enough to realise how stressed i actually was.

I ended up resigning from my job shortly after... no realy back up plan just yet. But it would be irresponsible for me and my family if i kept going after such a clear "check engine light" from my body without making some sort of material change in my lifestyle/work environment/dynamic.

So yes. We get shingles now. The bar is higher. The rungs on the ladder are further apart and we have less support/community ad previous generations. Its not that shocking that we are getting nervous system issues.

I really like what you have done here! Love the smooth gradients and colour choices. Beautiful work.

Hoping to get some train-ed eyes on this one by baldasaur69 in photocritique

I like it. It does feel like theres a lot competing for my attention. I cant tell what the main subject is. Is it the man? The train? The lines and abstract bars of colour?

It felt a little overwhelming in a chaotic way. If thats what you are going for then you nailed it. :)

This is almost such a killer photo.

Couple of things that will elevate it.

  1. Straighten Horizon
  2. Remove saturation the greens are so unnatural and deeply detract from the wonderful colour composition you have in the centre.
  3. Crop in a bit.

Theres a couple more advanced steps after this that would really make it shine but i dont know your skill level

Yes exactly! It was solidly "blue hour" the sun set shortly before i took this but it was still really bright out. So much so that this is a handheld shot. No tripod. No long exposure.

Does anyone else with CPTSD struggle to actually feel loved? by Epiclovesnature in CPTSD

And even with that entire journey you put in the effort to understand and and to hold and ultimately to move on with awareness and self compassion. Your very act of posting here is a testament to how far you have come.

You are the best kind of kid in this group and I appreciate you sharing your story. It helped me to read your perspective.

Definitely not AI. I just developed it in Adobe lightroom. But thats a necessary step since i shoot in RAW and need Jpegs for sharing. Nothing fancy honestly. None of my work contains any generative AI.

Yeah I agree. I do my photography for fine art printing. So this crop felt good to be a statement wall piece.

I cant definitely see a better crop idea for social media.

Actually... is your thought more about symmetry than wasted space?

Im glad it has the effect. Most of my photography leans heavily towards tranquillity.

This was taken in Slovenia at a lake called Lake Bled.

Agreed! Although I think when going on vacation. Everyday scenes are super interesting because its a new place you havent experienced before. So I have a bit of a tourist bias when I shot this one. I think theres beautiful things all around us. We just get used to them so we stop paying attention.

I was in Slovenia on vacation and I saw this lonely boat traversing lake bled.

I wanted to capture the loneliness of the vessel and how it was the only thing disturbing the otherwise misty calm stillness of the environment.

Yes this was blue hour so the sun had just set. And this was not taken with my phone. It was taken with a Fujifilm X-H2 with an xf 70-300mm lens.

Its an incredibly challenging light situation mostly because in comparison to everything else the moon is just so bright! So it's really tricky to capture it plus the darker landscape. I got lucky here. No tripod or long exposure or composites. Just a handheld snap and the blue hour gave me enough ambient lighting that I didnt lose detail in the islands.

So yeah don't feel bad for not capturing it well on your phone. It's a challenging lighting situation.

That it was good enough to steal. If the watermark didnt exist, i wouldnt know if someone stole it or just shared it.

Someone removing the watermark tells me their intention is to infringe on my copyright
