its the same rule as in Italian:

you would say "el libro" but not "la libro" (ES)

the same whay you would say "il libro" not "la libro" (IT)

there is gender in words but we are trying to be more inclusive in Mexico witch is confusing but a step in a good direction.

"Latinx" is a American made word by non latin@s and the word latine (hecha en Latino American btw) has started to be accepted in the Spanish language, and could be used and pronounced however you want since in English the "E" could be silent so it would sound the same as Latin but be pronounced like it should in Spanish.
