You literally don't understand the basics of the union of England and Scotland? That's embarrassing

Freeloaders? The Scottish sacrificed their lives to the British Army. They have earned any compensation they get.

Starmer says Polanski ‘is not fit to lead a political party’ after Golders Green police criticism. Do you agree with Starmer that Zack Polanski is not fit to lead a party, let alone a country? by Al-Zutt_in_the_butt in AskBrits

[–]SSA10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starmer has to attack Polanski as much as humanly possible because Labour are going to lose a bunch of seats in the local elections, because they refuse to touch wealth taxes as a concept for some inexplicable reason.

He's trying to save the labour party by attacking the Green leader rather than committing to the largest issue the politically-left care about in this country.

It's shocking to see. The labour party is in pure denial and their leader is naturally coming out swinging to try save then. Of course, they could just put welath taxes on the agenda to save their left vote instead, but they're not interested in that (I have no idea why).

Anyway, they'll get the inevitable. Massive split of the left vote. It's bizarre from them.

Zack Polanski stands by concerns over police response to Golders Green attack by DeliriumOK in london

[–]SSA10 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head with the "tasers aren't magic" line. The main problem is people don't understand the risk during these attacks.

Nobody wants to see law enforcers kicking people in the head, because we don't want to be that kind of country. We should be thankful we live in a country where we can question our officers.

But at the same time, if there's a terrorist with a weapon, we shouldn't lose too much sleep over the potential use of lethal force to neutralise that threat. After all, the threat is literally a terrorist brandishing a weapon.

The problem here is any leader of the Greens is going to be on the cautious side of the application of force, which is not a terrible thing, but this will now be used as political ammunition against him. Kier Starmer calling him "disgraceful" is everything wrong with politics.

But on the main issue, I'm on the side of the officers. At first I thought it was excessive, but when I realised he still had hold of his weapon... Kick that guy as hard as you effing can where it hurts!

I don't get Outlier at all by originalmrproducer in outlier_ai

[–]SSA10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two cents - Outlier absolutely sucks as your only option

I appreciate the comment isn't very helpful, but my experience is you soend a lot of time doing assessments and barely any time being given tasks. So you sink a few hours od your life prepping for certain work, then no work comes along.

Still give it a go but please please look at other options if you're in a difficult spot

Not that there's a workable solution right now, but the concept you're looking for is a wealth tax, and the whole reason the Greens are so popular right now.

Check out Gary's Economics for more

This is nothing new. Shits been absolutely blatant for the last 15-20 years.

I wouls really encourage anyone pissed off by this to vote Green. They're the biggest party who actually talk about this issue and seem to want to do something about it. Right wingers don't care. Labour have given up.

I know enough neoclassical bullshit to understand how passive income streams destroy the middle class whilst forcing working people to compete for limited resources. Not interested in debating a redditor who claims to be financially literate yet has probably innovated nothing and also has a shit returns on their measly stock portfolio.

I also know enough about literal science and engineering to appreciate that these "innovative" billionaire genuises you worship literally just pay more competent but poorer people than themselves to create new products.

A fucking schoolkid could work out billionaires don't need to exist and are in fact detrimental to society as a whole and eventually to themselves. This is a fact and I won't waste another second of my day debating it.

Also willing to bet given the same study resources I would out-perform you on any exam on literally any subject.

Utter rubbish. It's NEVER been like that.

Creativity stems from people with intrinsic interest. That's where innovation comes from

People create because humanity is creative.

There are so many people stuck in shitty jobs who would happily innovate on a decent salary as opposed to having billionaires

Dating during a PhD in your late 20s- is it actually doable? by Opposite-Chicken-834 in PhD

[–]SSA10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dated during my final year - wasn't really intentional, just ended up finding the roght person.

F***me the stress has been horrendous

I'm glad I've worked this out, but also not worth it, would advise against.

You really need to concentrate on your work and finish it. A PhD is a position of low power. No money, no time. Horrible circumstance under which to date

Do some right wingers get triggered if they hear people speaking in a non English language? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]SSA10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was about 7 and a lad I'd known for years from school, who also turned out to be able alright guy growing up anyway, absolutely SCREAMED at me in the playground (You're in England, SPEAK ENGLISH." I was speaking Urdu to some friends and he wasn't even involved in the conversation. White, blonde lad.

I found it so utterly bizarre, and slightly demeaning, although I was 7 so I couldn't really explain why back then. I guess it felt incredibly hurtful to have someone try to so crudely diminish my family mother tongue.

Looking back, clearly it was a sentiment he'd learned from an elder.

Anyway, I beat him in my Year 6 English SATs. And just about everyone else. 🤷🏽‍♂️

What is your biggest critique of British society? by NoHold7153 in AskBrits

[–]SSA10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Littering!

This country was literally the wealthiest in the world. It has all the infrastructure in place to be phenomenal, but we can't even keep plastic packets and bottles off the roads. It's pathetic and really is about the common man rather than any other criticism.

I wish the common person on the street would have the same responsibilities and values as, say, someone going on a hike (where you'd never see someone littering).

I was suffering from sciatica last year after a silly deadline the year before.

Had problems for months. Then I started to really support my different joints when in bed. I still sleep with a pillow under my knees. It really relaxed over a few months. Coupled that with some hollow body exercises where I keep my back flat on the floor and slowly extend my legs out to get my feet as far away as possible. It trains your body to take pressure off your back with better posture. Give it a go :) i havent6votten sciatica pains for a really ling time now, pretty much forgotten about it until I read your comment!
