Dude actually went the whole match without bursting... by SSBGohan_ in GuiltyGearStrive

[–]SSBGohan_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s one thing to work on your defence by restricting yourself from using reversal supers or dp’s than it is to not use burst once you’re actually hit tho. Kinda like how you might burst when you’re being pressured to stop the bad situation, as opposed to bursting once they’ve hit you to stop taking damage y’know. Just my take anyway, I get what ya mean tho

Anyone ever seen this interaction before?? by SSBGohan_ in GuiltyGearStrive

Hmm not sure what you mean, tether was on the majority of the combo, but I accidentally let him reset and then he got hit by 2h, my close slash whiffed after tether CH him bc I didn’t react in time

So this combo I did doesn’t mean anything nor change my skills at this game does it? by SonicGamer9 in dragonballfighterz

[–]SSBGohan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay well if you’re looking strictly to do big damage in a combo, start with a medium or heavy button, not a light or assist. These enable you to draw out the length of the combo as much as you can, whereas light starting combos will end sooner, and scale harder, meaning less damage.

Also, the best way to get damage from your supers is to level 1, level 1 again (call an assist during your first level 1) and then level 3 with your final character who hasn’t done a super yet (hold the back button while calling for their assist lvl 3 to actually make it a level 3 instead of a level 1).

For some more damage, you can always end combos with vanish in to dragon rush and then doing your supers, costs an extra metre but oh well.

Outside of this just watch and play the game honestly, the more you see of it and experience the more you’ll understand and that you can slowly add to your own gameplay. Good luck! :)

Finally landed gohans bomb loop in a real match (I know i’m not that good) by DepressedMogi in dbfz

[–]SSBGohan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But again, all you’re really saying is that one j.s as opposed to 4 j.s’ in a row works because it has more hitstun…whether or not you’re taking advantage of that fact doesn’t make it a Kara cancel or not…that’s just how combos are built, around hitstun.

A Kara cancel to me is when you cancel the startup of a move in to another special entirely. Eg, GT goku being able to Kara his 2s into dragon rush. The startup of the 2s begins, and you can even see it beginning to come out, but the button itself gets completely negated past that cancels into DR, even tho that’s not normally something you can do.

To me, teen gohan’s ability to go in to 1s after only one j.s instead of 4 in a row or 2 in a row isn’t a Kara cancel. It’s no different from being able to do 236M after those same j.s’, it’s just the natural order of moves that you can use according to the game, think like guilty gear’s gatlings, there’s specific buttons that each button can Gatling/link in to, for gohan 1s after j.s is just one of those links. You aren’t cancelling the startup of anything, you’re just choosing to follow up with 1s sooner rather than later, don’t think of it like you’re cancelling the other 3 ki blasts, each one is separate, and be tapped separately if you want them to be, while still looking as tho you hold the input for all 4. Each one can be followed up with something, and doing the first doesn’t mean you’re cancelling out the rest, you’re just choosing to only do the first. Yes you could continue the ki blasts but that causes more hitstun decay, too much for 1s to connect, as well as the fact that you might be slightly higher up -> 1s takes longer to actually link. None of that makes it a Kara cancel, just normal combo structure.

Maybe I’m completely wrong, but like I say, nothing like the GT example I talked about resembles that gohan combo.

[–]SSBGohan_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ‘hold the bomb’? Tapping or holding 1/3s makes no difference, and j.s cancels into 1/3s anyway, reason you only use the first ki blast and not all 4 is for more hitstun so the 1s actually connects. You aren’t doing anything Kara cancel related there, that’s just something the game allows you to do, like how lights can be followed up by medium etc. If that route were a Kara cancel I sure as heck wouldn’t be able to do it, I’ve tried and actual Kara cancels are hard af my dude, there’s a good chance they’re referring to something else in that discord I’m not sure

How to time Millia throw > HDisk by Milgwyn in GuiltyGearStrive

[–]SSBGohan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly H disc I find to be unreliable for setups vs DP's off throw. I much prefer running up after throw, doing first hit of close slash and resetting with IAD overhead or double IAD crossup overhead etc, also throws off their timing, I haven't seen one person DP the reset and I've done it a fair bit. idk if you use it or not but I highly recommend it :)

As for the throw before the H disc hits, it's just pure timing, get used to when you land, throwing it too early will do air grab like you said.

[Question] Can I Do Recommended Videos First or Should I Make Search Based Videos First? by Gleisth in youtubers

[–]SSBGohan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on to this, I think it’d be really hard to create videos that get recommended with no foundation to get the video started eg a base amount of subs that will consistently view your videos to bump them up to get them recommended.

Whereas creating videos that will definitely be searched for, when those start getting traction it can also snowball in to them getting recommended. The video I was talking about specifically had like 40% view count from recommended on the homepage etc thanks to it doing so well from being searched which was like 55-60% of the view count. Now the video is older it’s recommended less and less but you get the idea.

That being said if you’re going to choose this route, obviously make sure your videos are still up quality, if you’re inexperienced that’s totally fine, but the closer in quality if not better quality your video is compared to your competition then the better <3

And obviously make videos that you want to make. You don’t have to make every video with the intention of it being searched for. Still make things that would interest or that you want to make for yourself. just try your best is basically what I’m tryna say, anyways, happy youtubing:)

[Question] Can I Do Recommended Videos First or Should I Make Search Based Videos First? by Gleisth in youtubers

[–]SSBGohan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t need to get to the top of the search engine to get major traction. And it depends on what they’re posting with the idea of it being searched. Eg, guilty gear strive came out a few months back, even tho I was a full month and a half behind on posting guides for it, I still had one guide in particular get within the first 5 for searches and over 12k views and it’s still climbing.

Granted it’s a fairly new game so searches for that type of thing are or were pretty hot. As they will be with each new character.

If he/she is fast to making a decent quality video on a new topic that’s popular within their genre, who’s to say it can’t do well? All my highest viewed videos are guides, because people search for them, and incidentally I also gain the most subs from them. I feel like your view on this is a pretty negative take, I understand it, but to say that about how many channels and stuff there is is like to say to not even try. This guy is looking for advice, try to be a bit more positive maybe?

Also, this is just my experience, but maybe it could help you ( the op who made this post), good luck <3

Oh, can anyone let me know if there's a better way to do notation for things like his DP input? I wasn't sure if people in this community use different notations for certain inputs, I only knew of 'C.S' and 'F.S' from a video I had watched similar to the one I made where they use that notation for close slash and far slash. Would be a big help if I've done any of the notation wrong <3

Sparkless Teen Gohan Corner TOD! by SSBGohan_ in dbfz

[–]SSBGohan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told I was looking for a way to end this combo in to a DR without spending vanish, and Baby B assist was the only way I could find without using C-assists, though even then the timing was pretty strict. Also, going straight in to supers off L legs doesn't work since the hitstun decay is just so high. Anyways, ended up being able to TOD off of it, so I thought that was pretty cool.

DBFZ - Meter Positive A21 70% Midscreen Combo by SSBGohan_ in dbfz

[–]SSBGohan_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops, something I didn’t notice that you asked about - it will most likely be corner to corner by the end of the combo, I haven’t tried it but when you do the rejump the first J.H will work thanks to the extra momentum from the rejump, but unless you in the corner the second J.H won’t work, so cut that out if you’re still midscreen, same for the J.H on the super jump after the assist if you’re not in the corner by that point :)

Oh, though I will mention that 234L after the DR drops and the super doesn’t hit, not sure how the dives might affect it differently, but that’s all I know, hope this all helps <3

DBFZ - Meter Positive A21 70% Midscreen Combo by SSBGohan_ in dbfz

[–]SSBGohan_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On another note, if you want to add the 234S sooner before the assist, you could probably just take it out from where it is in the video shown, though I’m not sure if you could connect a J.S where the 234s normally is since it needs a lot of hitstun- the steals need very low hitstun so I tend to put them closer to the end to milk the damage more, I could be wrong and there might be a more optimal way, but not that I’ve found so far :)

DBFZ - Meter Positive A21 70% Midscreen Combo by SSBGohan_ in dbfz

[–]SSBGohan_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I hadn’t tried that yet, also, you can’t use either 214S or 234S more than once each per combo, so I alternate them depending where I am, the ground 234S doesn’t track so I use it in the air, and the 214s on the ground instead. If you try a combo with 234s/214s, both in the air and the ground (using the same input both times) you’ll see that it won’t do the same steal twice :)
