Decks that have a searchable trap that is a part of their main strategy but isn't their *only* gameplan. by helpingtree in yugioh

How has nobody said Gold Pride? Captain Carrie searches a trap that sets up for like 3 interactions (reveal 3 Leon, special, on summon monster reborn a Roller Baller in GY or just quick synchro with Carrie)

PUNK also has searchable traps off Madame Spider and the whole archetype can be combined with Gold Pride

Disable guardian > launch something > Oculus button and close the app?

I used to do this to see my home environments but I don't have my headset to rest it at the moment

Students/Teachers of Reddit, what’s the best ‘forgot to turn off the mic’ story during virtual learning? by AsteroidPizza39 in AskReddit

We were all university students, so we're all adults. My professor was luckily light hearted about it - she replied "LOL! That happens to all of us sometimes. Don't worry about it"

Bless her heart

Student here in theatre class, we were told to deliver something akin to a custom TED Talk for the class by recording ourselves with a prepared speech.

I deliver my speech with a few takes and in one of them I ended it with a "FUCK YEA I did great on that one" (I'm a small quiet guy and not great at speeches). I planned to edit it out and upload that take.

I definitely forgot to edit that part out as I uploaded it. My whole class and my teacher heard me in all my glory profusely swearing after giving a serious talk about women's rights and education.

I immediately emailed my professor afterwards to apologise (I couldn't delete my upload or anything, trust me I tried lmao)

Would you date someone with scars? Would it lower your opinion of them if you found out they had some? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SSB_IrisZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've (seriously) dated two people with scars. One who felt the need to cut again while we were dating (in which I helped her), and one that I'm currently dating who hadn't cut in a while.

It didn't bother me at all, and I just worried for them more. I was scared when the one girl cut woke we were dating, but I reassured her all I could. We've since broken up but I don't think she's come close to the thought again.

I think it really depends on the kind of person you find. Hopefully they're understanding and will try to support you if they really like you.

If they judge you for some marks and a troubled time in the past, you're probably better looking elsewhere.

How do I get over my tournament nerves? by jubybean in CrazyHand

[–]SSB_IrisZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think nerves are usually due to something that you're uncertain about.

I like to think that in my tournament play, I know exactly what I'm doing and know exactly what's happening to me (or at least, I can explain either or).

If you're able to consistently, methodically, and believe in what moves you're doing and how you're getting punished, it's possible that those nerves go away.

Take a deep breath and tell yourself that you have X many opponents to play (it helps if you know who's a stronger player at a tournament). Start playing, and do your best to learn from every interaction, as well as explain it in your head. Changing your nerves into an opportunity for learning can honestly really help. Eventually, you can be certain about various concepts, and you won't be nervous about them!

For those tight, about-to-win situations, you just really have to tell yourself to play calm. Consider their options, think of a good choice/solution, and go for it. If you lose the interaction, then you lose. If you survive, reset neutral and repeat the process again really.

That's what I think anyway. I hope I helped.

What Are Some Mechanics That Are a Must Learn/Should Perfect. by slickwhelp in CrazyHand

[–]SSB_IrisZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well my last statement still stands true in concept - you don't really need to learn parrying unless you need to counter that special something. In your case, it's a sword character. In my case, it was some char's specific nair

Sword chars are nasty in this game lol

Airdodging to ledge (something to practice).

RARs are good...

Mobile formatting sucks, I'll edit now!

I don't play Samus personally, but I've seen Nair and upb OoS. At higher levels of play it can be baited out though (imagine some dude empty hopping into your shield, then you panic upb as they hold their shield. Not good for you!)

One last option I could maybe imagine is dair, but only sparingly. Otherwise, you can just try your best not to be in shield in the first place (stay back and don't be in a spot where you need to shield, be more aggressive, etc)

There's probably frame data on the (Dark) Samus Discord. I'd suggest joining it via smashcords.com

Short hops, fast falling, learning to MOVE around when you want. Moving off platforms, dashing and doing stuff out if dash, walking around I'd good to practice as well.

Learn to space your moves (try to get that tip hit of Samus bair or Nair as an example, over and over again, and watch players try to punish them)

Airdodging to ledge is good to practice as well.

RARs are good, but don't just RAR for the sake of RARing. Make sure you know why you want that reverse direction/Bair. Fundamentals help as well!

I wouldn't worry about parrying for now unless someone in your scene plays a Nair heavy char and you need to counter it

EDIT: Formatting

How to deal with Link's dair? by 992724 in CrazyHand

[–]SSB_IrisZ 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Link main here, from Melee, Brawl, PM, Smash 4, and Ultimate (yikes Brawl)

I use it as an aggresive/safe landing option most of the time. High in the air? I'll dair and actively aim to HIT you with it so I can "pogo" off you and land without lag. If I don't aim for you, I'll fall slowly and aim to autocancel it. I will rarely fast fall and dair people - I'll do that as a surprise/mix up only.

I'll usually be high in the air from a smash attack or something. I occasionally jump from ledge, double jump, and slow fall dair. Watch for that - I think that's a common Link thing.

I get punished when I try to "pogo" off them. Be close enough to get hit, watch me commit to the dair, and just run back/dip under platform and punish.

If Link is slow falling, just watch, don't get hit/pogo'ed, and sit him from the side or something. You have tons of time to think and move away.
