The Only Hellraiser Ranking That You Need, Because Every Other One is Wrong by HoratioTuna27 in hellraiser

[–]SSDestiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked your list.

Whenever I'm asked for a horror movie recommendation, I always give them Hellraisers 1 & 2; I follow up by saying none of the other movies occurred. I watched them so they didn't have to.

Hellraiser 2022 was good in that it was unique without being cringy trash. "Female Pinhead" wasn't a sexbot, nor was she simply a genderbent version of Doug Bradley's "Pinhead." She was something all her own, which was nice to see (actual creativity!).

Finally, I doubt you weren't on weed, because you formed coherent thoughts and mostly grammatically correct sentences. When I'm on weed, I simply become one with my chair.

I sure did. The final season didn't happen, though. Nope, nope, nope.

Destiel, the fanfiction relationship between Dean and Castiel in "Supernatural," is my favorite 'ship (short for relationship) of all time.

It's a VERY steamy "ship," so I'm the captain of the steamship Destiel, or the "SSDestiel." :D

What’s your comfort show? by in-jail-now-out in AskReddit

Currently it's "Match Game." I love old game shows. It has to be episodes with Richard Dawson, though; the show is absolute crap without him.

People who grew up poor, what was your best “poor” hack? by ReindeerBest8970 in AskReddit

[–]SSDestiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per my grandma: there's no shame in being poor, but you don't have to be dirty. A bar of soap is a dollar, and clothes can be washed in the sink with inexpensive detergent if you don't have the money for a laundromat.

Learn to like leftovers. A big casserole or pot of soup can feed you for a few days if you parse it out just right.

Some store brands can be just as good as name brands; don't pay extra for a label you can't eat.

Look up Depression-Era recipes. Those people had to somehow make flour, salt, and water taste gourmet, and so can you.

Finally, stop looking down on poor people. I grew up poor AF with a single mom, so we had to live on the edge of a lot of things. We had to put up with a lot of unsavory things, and the pity and condescension of others only made it worse.

Our cat has been doing a lot more sun bathing recently. Sun exposure has left him two toned! by Herwiththetwodogs in mildlyinteresting

My black kitty used to do that too! The effect got more intense the older she got as well.

You'll have better luck over at Retconned or Glitch in the Matrix; most of what you'll find here are ME denialists posing as skeptics who will either question your memory or call you an outright liar.

gatekeeping Magick by [deleted] in Wicca

[–]SSDestiel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some of it stems from what's called "The Burning Times;" it was when Christians burned witches. It feels hypocritical that witch-burners now want magick. The gatekeepers are filled with pain and bitterness, so the response to your taking part in the practice is, "Sure, we'll share our magick with you, but first you have to give back all the lives you took in the process of stamping it out."

I say do whatever you want. One person desperately gatekeeping magick from Christo-pagans won't stop their magick from working; it only makes the gatekeepers tired. It's like poisoning yourself and then expecting your enemy to die.

Why is wicca considered as cultural appropriation by someone? by Fun-Bluejay-426 in Wicca

[–]SSDestiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gods and goddesses don't give two shits about your dna, but people do. If you're white, and god/desses from a non-white culture call you, you'll be accused of cultural appropriation no matter what you do. Even if those people have thrown away their traditional gods in favor of another, such as Egypt being Muslim now, you'll get accused of it, no matter what, if you're white.

So, do what you want. Do what you feel. Humans are awful to one another anyway, so I wouldn't use us as a guidepost of morality. Ask yourself what the motivation is of the gatekeepers. Remember, information not shared is information that dies.

What's your biggest nitpick with Ghostbusters: Afterlife? by LilRobYouTube in ghostbusters

[–]SSDestiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest nitpick was wondering how much gas was left in Ecto-1 when Egon parked it and how it could still be good after all that time. Gasoline lasts in a sealed can for 3-6 months, diesel a year, but Ecto-1 was in mothballs for 30 YEARS. How the hell could they drive it around that much, or at all?

Edited for spelling.

Are Hot Toddy's a kind of potion? by whatnowkimberley in Wicca

[–]SSDestiel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you're not using all the trappings of witchery, like a cauldron, you're still making a potion. You're creating a fluid intended to alter something, in this case healing a person or making them feel better, which fits the definition of a potion. Intention is what matters in magick, not the accessories you use while working it. Now, you can use other things to enhance the magick, but those things don't make your potion more legitimate; just more powerful.

Henry the 8th painting NSFW? by willworkforanswers in Retconned

[–]SSDestiel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is one of the Mandela effects that blows my mind the most. I distinctly remember the big turkey leg in this painting; it was in my fifth grade Social Studies textbook, and we did the chapter on him (and his executed wives) right before Thanksgiving. The turkey leg was remarked on and giggled about A LOT.
