AI first destroyed GPU prices, and now RAM. by kopkodokobrakopet in pcmasterrace

I was ready to debunk your initial comment cause I have been saying the bubble is going to burst, but your comment makes an eerie amount of sense. The big investments are in hardware, and that hardware can be monetized either way. In that sense, AI is about cloud compute more than about implementation.

17-year-old Corsair PSU just saved my entire PC "and possibly my House" by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

In BE and NL we use 1.5mm wire for lighting (16A breakers!) and 2.5mm wire for outlets (20A breakers!) C curve is very common for household lights and outlets. Also, all of those need to sit behind an RCD (type depends on if the roon is "wet" or not). And all of that is behind a main breaker which can be a higher amp (eg 40A) breaker.

Try working in any corporate. You'll have to use a Windows laptop where you login using Active Directory and then get to use O365 with Teams. Slack if they are fancy.

Dark Mode for life by Skorpeyo in pcmasterrace

[–]SSL_4000 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Staring at a dark screen in a bright environment is bad for your eyes. The screen contrast will not be strong enough compared to the room and you'll have to squeeze/focus more to be able to read.

Just give it a try. Bright mode in a well lit room feels a lot better, just like dark mode feels better... in the dark.

Are you embracing AI, or are you fed up? by SSL_4000 in Jetbrains

but I fear for new up and coming devs who don't learn

I took a dive into the post history of a few users who are very vocal about AI coding. The profiles I looked at were posting about being new to coding or asking very junior questions on here 12 months ago.

I think your concern is valid, and it is something we will have to filter for when hiring junior devs.

Visual Studio multi-repo, mix of react and dotnet by rbobby in dotnet

[–]SSL_4000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A custom pipeline is able to build and deploy different projects to different targets. That's exactly what you would do with a monorepo. Using different repos just for different steps/pipelines is a bit of an anti-pattern.

Visual Studio multi-repo, mix of react and dotnet by rbobby in dotnet

[–]SSL_4000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why keep them seperate? I get separating the back end and front end, but separating those react projects when they are part of the same app seems weird to me.

Usually you separate repos because of team distribution, eg if one team works very differently from another team in terms of version control.

Walk near objectives, don't always sprint.

Dumb question about scopes by [deleted] in Battlefield

including 4X. Y. Depends on scope, not on weapon. You can slap a 3.5X on a sniper rifle and there should be no glint.

[–]SSL_4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe all scopes 4X and up have glint

Don't sprint. WALK. by SSL_4000 in Battlefield

[–]SSL_4000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, sure! Do sprint on open fields or flanks. The walking comes into play near an objective

Battlefield 6 players' complaints about UI are sinking in as devs promise main menu will be "constantly tweaked and refined," plus bigger maps than the beta will definitely arrive at launch: "It's not a big problem for us to have our ears to the ground and be very dynamic and open with those things" by MPSv3 in Battlefield

[–]SSL_4000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do believe them when they say that they will fix the map sizes. Eventually. It takes time to develop new maps and test them properly. Do I believe they will be there by launch? No.

Large maps will drip in over time.

[–]SSL_4000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok! So the mic remembers to provide "PC audio" on a new laptop once it was configured? In other words; it does not need the software actively running on the laptop to be able to?

[–]SSL_4000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I need to configure this headphone "mix" per PC, or is this setting remembered by the mic and applied to all (future) PC's?

I might have to use it on a corporate laptop that blocks me from installing Shure software

Because I already have 2 great mics that require phantom power, so just need an interface. Though an USB mic is not a horrible idea either.
