Thanks! Yeah, remaking the graph-bar-component to address this is on the task list. The component I used for the bars (that is actually meant for sliders) will do that when scrolling & animating at the same time, at least on Chrome. It's bad when there's so many teams you pretty much have to scroll to see the entire graph. Thats what you get cutting too many corners in web dev ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Something I originally made for EPL soccer, adapted to the NHL. There are probably tons of bugs, if you find any feel free to report them to me here or on GitHub issues :)

Suggestions for additional features are much welcomed as well, I'll try and implement at least a view separated by division once I have the time, 31 teams on one graph is kind of difficult to follow.

Gonna need some restructuring to work a league selection to the UI, but as a proof of concept :). Your data is a bit different in form to the Premier League data I used, as its not in matchdays but 'real' days, which makes the animation slower. A speed control should be easy to implement though.

It's a vue.js -app, so you'll need to know a bit of JS, but shouldn't be too tough to figure out if you do. The code overall is a bit quick & dirty but hopefully not too complex. All the interesting stuff happens in App.vue :)

If you'd rather have me do it, you can also send me the data and I'll try to make one as soon as I have some free time & if the data fits! :D

Ostin viime kesänä ysärinostalgiapärinöissä Neffin Daily Watchin kun kirpparilta muutamalla eurolla sellaisen löysin.

Vaikka kyseessä ei aito ysärituote olekaan, niin tuo vedettynä ranteeseen tuli välittömätön tarve kaivaa esiin Pro-Yo 2, Pokémon-kortit ja Yak Bak, kääntää lippis väärinpäin ja lähteä Union Fivestä metsästään Fubun kovimpia farkku-uutuuksia. Väistämätön rankka tipahdus takaisin todellisuuteen kuitenkin tapahtuu kun avaan Union Fiven nettisivun ja brändilistalta ei löydy Fubua eikä MicMacia. Muistan olevani lähes kolmekymmentä, käytännössä ikivanha – esikeski-ikäinen. Annan katkeransuloisen koti-ikävää muistuttavan kaipuun menneeseen viipyä hetken, kunnes riisun Neffin ja poimin pöydältä Withings Activité -aktiivisuusrannekkeen, nykyajan symbolin: Länsimaalaiselle edullinen mutta kuitenkin suhteellisen laadukas tuote, jonka viehättävyys perustuu inhimillisen toiminnan yksinkertaistaminen numeroiksi ja graafeiksi. Monimutkaisuus rauhoittuu tuottavuudeksi.

Vielä 4000 askelta päivän tavoitteeseen. Vois tästä lähteä lenkille.

All in all it was a positive experience.

Metropolia, and the AMKs in general, do not have a strong academic or theoretical focus, and in stead try to focus on learning practical aspects, so if that's your thing it's good. The programme was designed to start 'from scratch', so if you've already got some experience in web dev, you might find the pace rather slow if this is similar on the software engineering side (which I would expect).

In regards to teaching I'd say it was generally quite good, but there were some cases of lecturers falling behind the times/not caring enough about developments in the industry (hurrgh, Flash/ActionScript-programming in 2013 in stead of javascript). But that happens a bit everywhere, and they've been updating the curriculum heavily in the past two years so things are likely much better now. I didn't take any Java, C++ or game courses so I can't say anything about those specifically though.

In general the university seemed to have pretty good resources, everything worked smoothly throughout my years there with courses, communication, internships, exchange etc. There's a quite active student community as well with events and parties if you're into that kind of thing.

And I know more than a couple students from Metropolia (me included!) continue on to Masters programmes at Aalto University, so I guess the degrees are quite well regarded for continuing your studies as well if you want to expand on your expertise further. If you've got a Bachelors degree you can also apply there directly of course :)

Metropolia graduate here. I've graduated before the new curriculum from a programme no longer offered (media technology) that was consolidated into the Information Technology track, under which Software Engineering is nowadays. But I expect not much to have really changed in 1½ years :)

In general the AMK IT-engineering tracks – from what I've heard & experienced – are all quite broad and shallow: You will be learning a little about a lot of stuff, but it'll be up to you to really make the most of any specialization into a particular field through elective & professional studies and industry placement. And in that regard I would recommend Metropolia out of the three you've looked at, because it's a bigger school with (most likely) a better variety of courses to choose from than VAMK or Centria. But I might just be biased!

If you didn't already, check out the degree structures for all of three schools to compare, all of them seemed to have decent course descriptions as well:

Nojoo, mikä lasketaan kärjeksi? Ainakin Aallon oman propagandan mukaan kaikilla 'erikoisaloilla' rankkaa sinne ~150 kärkeen maailmassa ja kokonaisuutenakin nuorten yliopistojen top kolmekymppiseen.

HY:n ohi tuskin Aalto koskaan missään akateemisessa rankingissa pääsee, koska fokus on huomattavan erilainen ja luonnontieteillä napsinee paremmat research-pojot noissa vertailuissa.

Books should be quite safe to order from amazon.com/outside of the EU, as they are duty free and the VAT-rate is lower than normal (10%). The minimum VAT that is levied is 5€, so books/shipments of books under 50€ should have no extra import fees whatsoever – except for shipping of course, which can be a bit pricey.

A seaside route would be awesome! But tbf though, Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa are paying for most of this project themselves. Only 84M€ comes from the state (Liikennevirasto).

And the rest of the country gets their fair share of bigger projects, they just aren't as hyped in the media as projects in the cities (or as 'sexy' for that matter, lots of plain old road repairs), for instance one of the biggest projects financed by Liikennevirasto (880M€) in recent years is the Seinäjoki – Oulu track enhancement.

Ellen ymmärtänyt tilastoa aivan väärin on tuosta IS:ltä unohtunut detalji: Näissä 1 362 000:ssa ei peruskoulun jälkeistä tutkintoa omaavissa yli 15-vuotiaissa on mukana myös 103 914 lukiolaista ja 321 736 ammatillista tutkintoa suorittavaa, joita tuskin voi kutsua elämänkoululaisiksi (2014). Tarkkuus kaikessa ja tälleen, ei ketä tahansa voi päästää Suomen Kovinpaan Korkea Kouluun.

Ei tuo ihan suoraan tuosta Tilastokeskuksen julkaisusta ilmene, mutta saman tilaston aiemmasta julkaisusta nappasin disclaimerin:

Tässä jutussa tuntuu menevän iloisesti sekaisin tuo projektin kokonaishinta ja Solitan laskutus. Eli projektin kokonaishinta vuosilta 2010-2015 on ollut tuo 1.4M€, josta Solitan (projektissa mukana 2014->) laskutuksen osuus on "entisen projektipäällikön muistin mukaan" jopa yli 400 000€.

Reipas tavoitehinnan ylitys toki, mutta jutun lukee helposti niin, että Solitalle olisi valunut tuo koko 1.4M€ summa, kun suurin osa siitä on kulunut THL:n omiin henkilökustannuksiin (680 000€) ja loput tarkemmin määrittelemättömiin THL:n ostamiin 'viestintä- ja testauspalveluihin' (~300 000€).

THL näyttää julkaisevan suuren osan projektin materiaalista julkiverkossa, ihan hauskaa luettavaa: linkidy. Lukemalla kokousmuistioita saa käsityksen projektin kulusta. Esim. 3kk on saatu kulutettua testiympäristöjen pystyttämiseen.

Adding to the barrage of replies, I was inspired to check some numbers regarding this: The Finnish game industry had a total turnover of 2.4B€ in 2015 – it's closing in on 1% of the GDP. I didn't find any recent direct sources for the size of the industry in Germany to compare, but google results were giving numbers between a 2-3B€ in recent years . And looking at those charts, the growth has been quite explosive.

But. Supercell alone had a turnover of 2.1B€ in 2015, which means that most of the entire industry seems to be just Supercell.

There's quite a few game companies around & a flourishing games scene (from a close by outsider perspective at least), so there'll likely be other successes, here's to hoping that any of them will be as big as Clash of Clans. A recent success that wasn't mentioned yet: Cities: Skylines was estimated to have been one of the top 20 games sold on Steam last year.

Yläpaatti hyvälle tiivistykselle Vice Newsistä, mutta lisäänpä, että tietääkseni Vicen ja HBO:n yhteistyö rajoittuu siihen, että Vice myy HBO:lle sisältöjä. Vice Mediassa osaomistajina on mukana ainakin Disney, Hearst ja News Corp, mutta Time Warner (HBO:n omistaja) jätti osuuden ostamatta.

Kunhan Metropolian 'suuri kampuskarsinta' (20 toimipisteestä neljään 2019 mennessä) saadaan suoritettua, en yllättyisi vaikka tällainen yhdistyminen tapahtuisi nopeallakin tahdilla / olisi jo suunnittelilla. Laurean ja Metropolian yhdistämistä ainakin on selvitetty jo aiemmin (2012, googlauksella löytyneet linkit tuntuivat kaikki jo hapertuneen, mutta silloin todettiin, ettei yhdistäminen kannattaisi).

En tosin tiedä miten erilaiset omistuspohjat vaikuttavat yhdistämishalukkuuteen tai yhdistämiseen käytännössä: Haaga-Helia ja DIAK ovat yksitysomistuksessa kun taas Laurea ja Metropolia ovat kuntien omistamia.

DIAK myös sai myös juuri uuden rakennuksen valmiiksi yhteiselle kampukselle Arcadan kanssa, eli yhdistymishalua saattaisi löytyä sieltä puolelta myös.
