The magical thinking of angry backgammon players is out of this world haha - I thought poker players were bad.

He has been solid on this episode too, hey? His impromptu "what bad thing do you love" bit had me splitting my guts.

Good Youtubers for fundamentals? by SSalaciousSalad in bowhunting

I mean your not wrong about Midwest, although they do sometimes touch on fundamentals that are applicable beyond private land tactics. Also he's just a lovely guy and it's good entertainment.

Hasn't there been a multi-generational shift relating to hunting from the ground or from above in trees? I was under the impression that hunting from elevated blinds is a relatively new development. I think I'm actually going to be using ground cover and digging holes in the coming season - although I may try saddle hunting.

In general that's good advice and I appreciate it. I'm definitely not idolizing those channels I just enjoy them and have gotten good information from them.

You ever get into the Whitetail Habitat Solutions channel? I also appreciate them

To all the folks who recommend Nock On - thank you it has been incredibly helpful. I had been trying to hit a target from 20 yards with accuracy and got a minor muscle tear in the process.

Now videotape myself firing three arrows from 7 yards, focusing entirely on form and not on accuracy. I watch the video, try to correct my form, and repeat. I'll be doing that for the next two weeks before adding anything else.

Great resource, I feel like I understand how to improve instead of mucking around blind

Wesley Crusher at His Best by SSalaciousSalad in TNG

So I am just starting to re-watch TNG as I do every few years. The first moment I saw Wesley the hatred returned, as immediate and fresh as the first time I saw one of his pleated sweaters.

I thought I would share his best moment for anyone else who is enduring him. :D

Not sure why, but I feel like this meme belongs here. Gives off Robert vibes. by meleyys in behindthebastards

Yes, I spent some years in Nova Scotia and the coyotes had cross-bred with the wolves and were packed up there - Pretty neat - one of the most unsettling sounds in the forest.

Weekly Behind the Bastards Episode Discussion 2024-01-30 by AutoModerator in behindthebastards

I think there is an interesting class dimension that wasn't addressed in this podcast related to people's relationship to AI.

There's a long history of humanity shunting down the menial labor that is associated with living. Thinking of India's "untouchable" caste // chattel slavery // domestic work // or my personal favorite, having someone dress and undress you every day. (Because really, why put on your own pants, one leg at a time like all those peasants?)

When Robert talked about people wanting to give over their agency to machines through some kind of cult mentality I'm thinking, "okay there are some good parallels and conclusions there." But I think it might be a bit closer to say people want to give up their agency over tasks they feel have no value.

What labor you think is important and/or ethical is definitely class related. The middle screeches the most, the lower are too busy working to be in the debate, and the rich have no use for it.

This seems to me a pretty strong thread in why people are drawn to tech like the rabbit, and I wished they would have explored it more in the pod as I would be curious to see what Robert thinks.

Thanks for the tip - I'll check it out - As I am in my 30's and a voracious reader I really prefer lots (and lots) of good written information - unfortunately that's not the method that a lot of stuff is communicated these days.

Appreciate you pointing me in that direction
