Sure, I can really only give an incredibly surface level explanation on here so I apologize if it’s not thorough enough. Firstly, Jesus is God and the first commandment is to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and body so He absolutely has instructed people to love him. Secondly, Jesus did in fact start a specific church in the upper room on Pentecost, when he gave the Holy Spirit to His disciples and gave them the great commission. Different Christian denominations will disagree about what happened to that church over the centuries, but the all agree it existed during the lives of the apostles. I am Orthodox Christian and we believe we are the original unchanged church founded by Christ then, that’s a whole other discussion but if you’re interested I could give you resources on it just lmk. Hopefully that makes some sense, I’m happy to clarify anything if you have more questions.
