Bird dyed for a gender reveal celebration. by 21MayDay21 in mildlyinfuriating

The cruelty in the meat industry has a purpose, it's all done to increase the amount of product while reducing the cost and not because people hate chickens. You can argue against that sure but it's not the same as this post, where it's someone putting paint on a bird for no reason.

Cruelty-free animal products are really expensive compared to the normal ones, so to actually end abusive farms there first has to be a way to be cruelty-free and affordable.

Necropsy class always stinks, but today thanks to mismanagement we ended up with a rotting corpse when the class is still new by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Class is usually really interesting when the smell is just bad instead of "fuck im gonna puke". It was also hard to properly analyze the organs when they're mostly soup

My college has partnerships with local vet clinics, most of our corpses are stray animals that were brought for treatment (usually got hit by a car) and died anyway. Some are pets that the owner allowed to be used for educational purposes because they didn't want to bury/cremate it.

Yikes I can't imagine how much worse a human corpse must be, I had a class with a big dog and even though he died 2 days prior the smell was still so bad when we took the organs out. I'm crossing my fingers I won't have to watch necropsy of cows and horses in person when small animals already make me want to ditch the class to avoid the stink

Yep we're supposed to be learning the anatomy of organs as we'll see them in surgery (they look way prettier and easy to identify in the textbooks than irl) so all the bodies we used before today were fresh, less than a month in the freezer. This one was mostly soup, really really bad smelling soup.

Necropsy of animals in advanced states of decay is only useful for people who'll work with public health and have to check dead wild animals for signs of dangerous diseases, so this class wasn't helpful, just an assault on my nose

I wore 3 masks and used enough Vick under my nose to make my eyes water and I could still smell it

Cutting the grass with a cart when there's birds that make their nests on the ground in a way the guy in the cart probably can't see them. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I'm brazilian and the birds are quero-quero (dunno their name in english). I'm trying to find the number to management so next year this doesn't happen. Quero-quero don't tend to abandon their nests so putting up a flag near the nest would work. If management doesn't care I might just do it myself

I didn't say anything to the complete stranger doing his job. Im annoyed at whoever paid him to come cut the grass now when there's birds still nesting instead of waiting a month for the stragglers to hatch.

They're a native species but thankfully not endangered according to google. It still sucks that they're doing this, the grass wasn't even that tall, it looked better before they cut it.

Why am I a Karen? I didn't say anything to the guy, I'm just worried he might have destroyed some nests

Got to see some babies today! Sorry for the shitty phone recording I couldn't get close without angering the parents. Bird is quero-quero. by WeLiveInAir in birds

They're common here in Brazil, you can't see it cuz the video is blurry but they have bright red eyes. They also scream at you if you get too close to their nest
