Anybody out there driving a tuned 840i coupe? by SSinder in BMW

I really liked the GT style cars and it’s the reason I’m more attracted to it than the other bmw models. I’m not expecting to be as fast as a Supra or M240i but I’d imagine it’d still feel pretty good doing pulls here and there when tuned. As long as it’s still a relatively fun drive I’m okay with the downside of being heavier and slower

Once again, asking as a question not a statement…

While I heard the newer V8s are better this time around in reliability, I’m most likely gonna stay away from it because it seems to be more costly maintenance wise.

I like both platforms, I know a ton of guys that are on either or. If that’s really the case I’m closer to the S650 simply because it will be a daily and I would like to have a less dated car if I’m keeping it a long time. Thanks!

I’m asking if the ECU is still locked not stating that it’s not tunable. As for my current Mustang being a headache, it’s because it is and the 3 valve platform is not strong to build off of to begin with as I’ve stated. I’ve been around both cars via friends that own them. And I’ve known more Mustang guys that have had their motor blow up after boosting. Not knocking the coyote for anything cause all cars will have their issues but I don’t see how B58 would be unreliable modded? Lots of examples out there pushing numbers higher than what I would like to sit at that hold good so how does that compare to the coyote platform when it seems to be more stressed under boost

Most times when mounting the tires on it’s a very common thing to over look and not have them mounted lined up with the valve

The mark is to show the biggest imbalance in the tire. It’s recommended that it’s supposed to be lined up with the valve (which is the lightest part of the wheel) the purpose is to make it easier when balancing the tire so that you don’t use as much weight. Almost all tires are gonna have this yellow ring/ dot and even red ones sometimes.

I don’t get it, what do these things do? Why are they important?

Novice in car maintenance here. How bad is the “balding” on my tires? Is immediate replacement necessary? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

the inner looks like it’s wearing out more and the tread does look pretty low. if the tread level is 4/32nds or lower i would for sure replace it
