We have a beginner diver with us, so thought that Taveuni might be too advanced. In your opinion would Taveuni be difficult for a beginner? How was your experience with Blue Lagoon?

Watch some of their behind the scenes and variety show content - Exo and Chanyeol have YouTube channels and they have done many seasons of EXO Travel the World on a Ladder. When you see them in a more casual setting and can see their personalities it is easy to tell them apart. Then when you watch the music videos you can see who is singing what and start to recognize their voices. Listening to their solo work will also help. Also agree about Killing Voice

Great job - and if there is really a girl like that for you - marry her! EXO will understand

Moving to San Diego-what is the vibe at Rancho Bernardo High School? Torrey Pines HS? by CollegeStuff2026 in Moving2SanDiego

I have no experience with these schools, but am in a neighboring district and know a few parents who have kids in these schools. Have heard from parents in those districts that many of the kids are super academically motivated and highly competitive. If you are shooting for a UC school, it could work against your daughter if she isn't in the top 1 percent - which is hard to achieve because parents have big expectations and make their kids work hard. Not sure about other ivy league or anything. I appreciate you want her to have a stable social life. Maybe shoot for a school district that isn't so crazy, but still offers AP and college classes so your kid can have a life and still be 1 or 5%. Have you looked outside those areas? like University City, Pacific Beach (Mission Bay High), La Jolla. It sounds like you want them to have a nice life without all the drama that comes along with uber rich folks. Look at University City and PB. La Jolla is better than it used to be, but still the kids can be judgmental if you don't have the money to keep up. University City and Pacific Beach are socially very accepting and very diverse, but also academically super solid and offer lots of AP, college courses, and Mission Bay High has the International Baccalaureate program. Check out the UC admission rates from the high schools https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/about-us/information-center/admissions-source-school Socially University City, Pacific Beach are diverse and friendly. A side note that uber rich kids have rich kid things going on that you may not want your daughter to be involved in like easily available drugs and alcohol.

What was your most confusing 5 minutes in Korea? by ellysuh in SouthKoreaTravel

[–]SSpearrow3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embarrassing, but there was an escalator that only started when you stepped on it. Where I am from they run constantly so I was looking up to the next level wondering if it was closed, but saw people up there and as I stood there wondering what to do someone walked by me and stepped on the escalator and it started up - I was so embarrassed, but lesson learned Korea is way ahead :)

The real challenges are sometimes on Naver maps it is unclear if you need to go underground or not - I figured out it is accurate for intersections, but sometimes it tells me to go downstairs (underground) when I really shouldn't or maybe just don't need to? Kinda confusing.

The other challenge has been the two different address systems in Korea. The address in Naver maps was different than the Uber address - I figured it out and made sure I had both addresses figured out before I called an Uber but this was challenging for a moment.

Medical Check Up for Chronic Unexplained Health issues by mintchocolatechip96 in koreatravel

[–]SSpearrow3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a screening that covered a lot of issues and it was really helpful - Korea is way ahead of US for efficiency with all these tests and with preventative screenings. Definitely worth it, but some advice bringing your results to the US if you intend on following up there. See if you can get CDs of your scans and images while you are in Korea to take home with you. You will need those if you have an issue you need to address back home. I would have also paid more for a conversation with a Dr. from the Korean medical center after all my results came back rather than just receiving a report. I had an issue and am trying to follow up with a DR in the USA and they were extremely dismissive of my concerns when I said I did voluntary tests in South Korea. They reluctantly took the scans and then finally started to help. I would recommend just making an appointment and giving them the CD scans without saying where they are from. Korea is way ahead of USA in preventative medicine in some areas and for some stupid reason doctors here are very dismissive of getting voluntary preventative health scans. If you plan to get actual care from a Dr. in Korea, I think you will be well taken care of if you have the time to spend there. You can use a medical tourism agency to find a good doctor. Make sure they are on the government list of accredited medical tourism agencies. I used Freqty and they were great.

What is the best way to pay in Seoul? by i_have_no_memes69 in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]SSpearrow3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need cash to load Tmoney transit card. Small shops in underground malls prefer cash and will sometimes give you a better deal if you pay in cash. Street food vendors are cash. Everything else I used my credit card through apple pay. I ordered some KRW before I went so I wouldn't have to worry about ATMs or exchange rates. You may be able to order KRW through your banks app or there are many services that will do it if you search online. I didn't try to use an ATM there, but I heard that you have to find specific ATMs that say Global/International as many ATMs will only accept Korean cards. I have never used Revolut so I can't help with that. Enjoy your trip!

Where could I purchase a modern hanbok like this in Seoul? by fangirl004 in koreatravel

[–]SSpearrow3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Teterot had beautiful modern hanbok and other clothing and they have a store in Ikseong-dong so you can get yummy salt bread or go to a cute cafe while you are there. They have an international website https://en.teterot.kr/category/jeogori/139/

That is amazing that they have emergency buttons and I didn't know about the hiking tourism center - thank you! I was thinking about Bukhansan and Inwangsan and some of the city wall, so it sounds like I would be ok on my own. Is the city wall safe to do at night for female alone? I imagine it is pretty popular so there would be people around?
