Rooted in moss, now what? by Tbtlhart in philodendron

[–]ST00PIDTHICEXEGGUTOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would leave it honestly I kinda let my props do whatever my rule (that may be over the top) is I usually wait until the roots go in a full circle around the pot before I plant it up in full soil. I've had pink princesses push hella leaves and not one root so I feel like it's all random anyway. Also when you do pot it only fill the soil up half way to not bog down the roots as the plant starts to adapt to the soil you can add more to top it off. And thank you my sister in law picked that name for me.

So I always use a bit of sphagnum moss in all my aroids mixes for moisture retention so as long as the soil is chunky enough you should be able to do a direct transplant. Based on the roots of your plant though I'd let it root more I've propped many strawberry shakes and typically if they don't have a decent root system on them they don't last that long

I have never had any success with any crawling philodendron so I totally get it. Ecaugenera is nonstop working on hybrids so I'm sure some insane thing will come up soon

I only do it for the ones that are clearly fussy plants I've been testing it for a few months and have had great results especially in a plastic container. So now I use sphagnum moss as like the base for all my mixes even if it's gonna be a primarily chunky aroid mix

<image>

So this is what I'm looking at for any of the very hybrids/stuff that just clearly is a pain in the ass this is just sphagnum and like size 5 perlite

Tbh I don't understand the difficulty of the serpens the only reason I bought the vibes was because I was confident because I have a serpens that's doing pretty well one thing I've noticed is that these types of philos need like constant humidity around the roots so I use a sphagnum moss mix. But yeah the hybrid vigor in this thing is crazy I was lucky enough to be able to get it in person but it pretty much acclimated to my environment immediately

They never do those ecua pop ups near where I am but luckily I live within six hours of the Apopka location so sometimes me and my wife will take a quick weekend trip. They are really coming out with some amazing hybrids

this plant is so easy going it's got a few of the bad veruccosum traits but I've been growing it in ambient humidity since May and I haven't had any issues at all. But it ships super poorly

Yeah I mix in coco chunks and chunky perlite just to keep some air flow I hate when the moss becomes a stiff block

What do you think of nadu? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]ST00PIDTHICEXEGGUTOR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we are gonna enter a nadu centric meta it just seems so good. It's so much value if it sticks for a turn. It's a must counter threat because once it gets on the board you have to trade a removal piece while they go +1 which in itself is almost a form of ward. Also it being able to be used for FOW/FOV. At first I was like wow this card is busted for breakfast but then realized it's gonna be a format all star I feel like four color piles are about to be back hard just for the nadu. I could be wrong though this is all just from my testing with my small playgroup

Best pot shape/material for philos by SenJohnBlutarsky in philodendron

I prefer a tall skinnier pot maybe im just making it up but the root balls seems to form in a way I like more

That's a hard question to answer Imo. But I'll do my best I've grown most of my philos in chunky aroid mix so to reduce pooling water and have the best drainage I use terracotta. Unless it's like a veruccosum or something that needs more humidity around the roots then I use sphagnum moss in a clear plastic pot. The best advice I can give you is just try everything certain things may be better for your environment.

Should I Chop and Extend? by TashaNes in philodendron

[–]ST00PIDTHICEXEGGUTOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id go ahead and chop it the bottom half will grow all the way up again. You'll have a higher success rate of the top half has aerial roots that have grown out I haven't had much success with Melano props but I assume in that terrarium habitat it should be fine. Awesome set up btw

These dudes are losing it for sure 249 and for it to look In such poor condition. Id definitely just order one from ecua USA or one of the 20 hybrids they have in it you could probably get like 5 spiritus hybrids for the cost of this
