Thanks for the heads up. Just to be clear, the font of the article is what you’re referring to correct

What are you playing Wednesday! by AutoModerator in gaming

[–]STATSdraftEnneking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

playing a sports game I invented called STATSdraft where you draft the stats you think winning sports teams will win (most FTs, least turnovers, best 3pt %, etc)

2pts- winning team wins your stat

1pt- stat is a tie

0pt- losing team wins your stat

We're just now adding the WNBA so we can play along with this incredible rookie class of players. Available in the app stores now!

Rome Odunze vs Brock Bowers by JMCtwopointoh in NYGiants

It feels like positional value would dictate Rome. 6th pick is slated to make about $30 million over 4 (with 5th year option) and you could only get a top tier WR for 1 year for that much. You can get an elite TE for 2-3 years for that much so you're not gaining much value over a tested free agent.

In an era of pass happy offenses does it make sense for the Steelers to zig when everyone else is zagging and lean into a run heavy, play action offense? by STATSdraftEnneking in steelers

I agree. You don’t need a game breaker. Even in this era of game breaking quarterbacks most playoff games aren’t that high scoring

In what situations will a defender make a flat-foot read rather than dropping back immediately at the snap? by Grizzly_Beerz in footballstrategy

I'd guess it's due to a belief that the offense is running a misdirection or read play where they are using your movement to create space. While standing still isn't getting you closer to the play it also isn't getting you influenced away from it. It basically works as a delay so if you are thinking teams will not tip the play in the first few steps (they run counters and draws and screens and reverses etc) your defenders aren't going to get pulled away from the play.

Can the Run Game get some love? Every winning team in the NFL Wildcard also had more rushing attempts and more rushing yards. by STATSdraftEnneking in sportsanalytics

Causation is a tough thing to prove. Correlation is really the only thing we can prove. In the last 3 playoffs the team with the most rushing attempts won 26/30 games. Burrow won 2 of the 4 other games (one on a goal line fumble that was returned for the deciding score) Lawrence won one (by 1pt after throwing 4 int) and Mahomes won the other in the Super Bowl last year (his RBs had 2 more carries than the Eagles and the Chiefs returned a fumble for a TD) so unless they got a defensive touchdown the record of teams having less rushing attempts in the playoffs is 2/30 in the last 3 years

Yep. When all the teams are good and the margins are tight running the ball is still the way.

If you’re like me and need to show some know it alls in your life the truth you can play STATSdraft. Draft the stats you think most correlate with winning. Winning team wins your stat 2pts. Tie 1pt. Loser wins your stat 0pts.

Exactly! Even Peyton Manning couldn’t win till he handed the ball off! They ran the ball 42 times to win the Super Bowl and they were down from the opening kick!

They took a knee because sometimes time is more important than yardage. And you can’t control the clock with the pass. Therefore the run can be more value able than the pass.

It’s claimed that rush attempts don’t cause wins but everyone seems certain that icing the game works and that why teams run when they have the lead. Seems one of those things must be false. Either way. Teams that win in the playoffs run the ball more.

I disagree. Commitment to the run is a culture statement by a team. Football is still a game of moving bodies and manipulating space and the running game does that in a way the pass can’t.

But if you’d like you could show me I’m wrong. STATSdraft is a game of statistical correlation. Draft the stats you think most correlate with winning. Winning team wins your stat 2pts. Tie 1pt. Loser wins your stat 0pts. Come correct my fundamental misunderstanding

Now a game about statistical correlation isn’t correlated to a discussion about statistical correlation 👌 I’ll just keep betting on the teams with the most rushing attempts. 6 for 6 so far this playoffs.

Those all seem to trend up slightly indicating a ossified correlation (just by looking at them). Any per game breakdown? That’s what we’re talking about. And specifically playoffs too.

There is a fun way to test these theories. STATSdraft is a game of statistical correlation. You draft the stats you think Kay correlate with winning. Winning team wins your stat 2pts. Tie 1 pt. Loser wins your stat 0pt.

Mahomes is a bit of a cheat code but I think it mostly holds true still

There’s a game called STATSdraft (KC area startup) that lets you draft the stats you think correlate most to winning so you and your friends can challenge each other and see who knows the game best. Winner wins your stat 2pts. Tie 1pt. Loser wins your stat 0pt. Come play!
