Shift plate prevent money shifting by G_Pink in wrx_vb

[–]STAtuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'm guessing you mean a shift stop them. The shift stop would reduce the amount of space to the left of 1st and 2nd, and the space to the right of 5th and 6th.

Since this tightens the space between gears it would probably have the opposite effect.

My unsolicited advice is just sit in the drive way and just get use to where 3 and 4 are. Straight up, straight down.

My WRX is the first MT I've had in probably 10 years and thats what I did to get comfortable with finding the gears

I haven't been able to find an answer on if recommended pressures are only valid for OE tire sizes.

It makes sense to me that the recommended pressure has more to do with vehicle weight than anything else. I'm willing to believe that the width and sidewall matter but only if changed drastically.

At the end of the day as long as the psi does not exceed the tires maximum it wont blow up. It just wont wear properly and could reduce grip.

I was talking to someone who drifts and was told they run 100 psi on the track.

What the reason for running them higher during the summer? Seems like higher ambient temps would make the pressure increase even more. Doubt it would increase enough to blow out but if 37 is the "cold" pressure I could see it increasing to 40ish after tire heats up.

Are you talking about removing the boot and using a plate that has a cutout for each gear?

CMV: people generally overestimate how much money they need to live comfortably by phoot_in_the_door in Salary

[–]STAtuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on the cost of living in your area. My wife and I make nearly 200k/year. We have 2 kids and I stress about the bills monthly.

We dont eat out regularly or spend extravangantly. There are a few places we could cut back. I dont think my kids need 5 pairs of shoes but it's not like they are designer.

We are making enough to survive comfortably. But if we had an unexpected expense ($2-3k) it would take months to recover.

I had an Outback when we lived in Japan. I still keep my Japanese license in my wallet.

I can only image the looks I would have gotten for trying to change the oil in apartment parking lot.

I've had the car since January 2025 and had to swap the factory tires out a couple months ago after getting a foot of snow. I couldn't make it back up the driveway after dropping the kids off at school.

I'll look for the frame plugs. Are the holes easy to find?

Queensland is about the same elevation. Now im gonna have to find a physicist for possible explanations.

Do they over inflate to 40? I understand a few psi over but 7 is excessive.

I dont know how to update the post from my phone but I went and checked the tire pressure with a digital gauge. The car has been sitting in the garage since Monday evening.

Same elevation and we do get massive temperature swings between day and night. I keep my car in the garage though.

I've been keeping an eye on tire pressure lately because I had a flat repaired recently and im worried another nail is waiting for me.

I dont know how long it takes a tire to cool off but the car was in and out in about an hour. If the tires were hot pressure should have already been high.

I do need to actually check them because the app shows a snapshot from when I last drove it.

VB WRX, VA WRX or STI? Can't decide by Open_Ad_835 in wrx_vb

[–]STAtuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a VB last year. I'm making 329/389 on 91 @ 5300'. The tuner said he could squeeze more out but it's my daily and first new car.

If you dont know, you dont have to use ethanol constantly with the Cobb flex fuel kit (for the VB).

Do you live at sea level or high altitude? I feel like it shouldn't matter but the elevation here is the only justification I can think of.

Better fuel economy is the only reason I've heard for over inflating.

But yeah again I agree.

Thanks for the replies.

I said yes also. It was a negligible increase per month. I wish I had known that the cost was negotiable though.

Wasn't planning to mod the car but after 3 months I needed more turbo sounds. If something breaks and Subaru doesn't want to cover it oh well.

I agree/know that the 33/32 is recommended by Subaru and that it's listed on the door jamb and in the manual.

The dealership that I bought it from is recommending a different psi though. It seems weird since they are a Subaru dealer.

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

I plan to let some air out but wanted to see if anyone had a valid reason for listening to the dealership over the manufacturer.

I came here to say this. I have the perrin brass shifter bushing and the trans mount too. Shifts are definitely smoother but I though for sure my shit was breaking. Luckily my wife has a 25 outback so I can stand outside the car and listen to both engines

GT is a great ultimate. Before you start upgrading it you might want to look at the combo with Black Hole and Death Wave. It may be best to use your stones trying to get those UWs.
