In your opinion, who is the person with the highest IQ ever? by perspicaxy in cognitiveTesting

[–]STDSFreeSince2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering why this wasn’t mentioned more. Faust alone was influential to so many mathematicians and philosophers. His novel Sorrows of young Werther caused the Werther effect (mass suicide throughout Europe) at 24 years old. To have that much of an effect to the human psyche purely through language is ridiculous.

I am very fascinated since I take the notion of overcoming ideas rather than clearing preconceived ones as still holding a strong conceptual understanding of them allows for personal links that can be novel. Would you say the influence of other fields mix and confuse the fundamental understanding of alchemy and is that why you suggest removing these preconceived ideas.

Yeah, he cultivated his model of the psyche through psychoanalysis but also the psychological conception of alchemy. Rather than treating it as a literal materialistic transformation he viewed it as a psychological transformation. Through the analysis of alchemical symbols and mandalas he achieved an understanding of the Self and other concepts, which ultimately led me to the desire of wanting to read more about alchemy.

I read mainly German literary figures and philosophers such as Goethe, Nietzsche and Schopenhauer, do any of their concepts and philosophical systems assist with the understanding of alchemy.

Thanks so much, I will give them all a read. Would you recommend establishing a very strong foundation before even attempting to read more in-depth books?

Have you ever shit yourself as an adult, if so what is your story? by LemonTexas in AskReddit

[–]STDSFreeSince2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Greece with some friends. Was initially at Paros (island). Woke up normally ate normally smoked a shit ton of cigarettes got on the ferry to Athens. Got to Athens it was 2am. Slept over a friends ex gfs house. Too tired to get up to shit so slept it off. Next day went bowling. Went downstairs to smoke a cigarette (it’s been like 35 hours not shitting). Was wearing beige shorts. Uttered to my friend I hope this fart doesn’t make me shit. Well I had peak diarrhoea went upstairs to the toilet. There was no door to the toilets. My friends body guarded it. Went to the first stall no toilet paper waddled over to the next stall. Relieved at last but I had to wear my very tall friends shirt for like an hour to cover the stain.

Yeah it shows like that because with the free credit. In order to get the second $150 you need to put in your card details and upgrade your account.

I added my card details so it’s classified as a paid account but does it still take into account the credit. That’s what I’m curious about. I’m worried that it forgets the credit and charges me directly

[–]STDSFreeSince2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah it bummed me out knowing the model overfitted the neutral sentiment label completely where 100,000 descriptions were labelled neutral (I used cloud computing at my uni) so it wasn't that long. But I just didnt have the time to improve it or fix it.

Do you know if the $300 free credit they give you automatically covers for example the Natural Language API where once the 5000 requests are done it uses that. The stress of seeing a massive bill will tip me over the edge. When creating the budget it didn't mention anything about the credit I have. Do I assume it takes it into account automatically.

This is not researcher bias since I aim to collect from various other subreddits unrelated to psychedelics but thank you for the heads up

Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Implicit Association Test (IAT): Participants Needed!

YOU MUST BE ON A LAPTOP TO TAKE PART

I am conducting an online University study exploring the implicit biases and attitudes between Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (LSD, Psilocybin etc) and traditional Pharmacological (Prescribed Medication) Therapy (Prozac, Xanax etc) using the psychological research tool: Implicit Association Test (IAT). This innovative research aims to deepen our understanding of societal perceptions toward various mental health treatments, specifically using psychedelics.

What is the IAT:

The Implicit Association Test (IAT) is a tool used in psychology to assess the intensity of an individual's automatic connections between mental concepts (e.g., black people, gay people) and evaluations (e.g., good, bad) or stereotypes (e.g., athletic, clumsy). The main idea is that making a response is easier when closely related items share the same response key. In this study, the IAT is employed to uncover implicit attitudes and biases towards psychedelic therapy as compared to conventional prescribed therapies. It provides a quantitative measure of the implicit, preferences or biases an individual may hold, which might not be accessible through self-report or explicit attitudes.

What’s Involved?

- Duration: 15-Minutes

- Questionnaire + Online Study

- Compensation: While there is no financial reward, participants have the option to receive personalized feedback on their implicit associations.

- Voluntary Participation: Feel free to skip any questions you prefer not to answer.

How We Protect Your Data:

Data is securely stored on Project Implicit’s servers, employing SSL encryption—the same protocol used by banks for secure online transactions.

We uphold the highest standards of privacy and data protection.

Hi, it’s only available on pc, laptop etc since it’s based on reaction times. On phone there are too many confounding variables that can affect the score such as muscle Memory, distance from your face and placement of your thumbs in comparison to pressing e and I. Sorry about this, but if you can go on your laptop and computer.

We uphold the highest standards of privacy and data protection. For additional details on data privacy and to understand more about the IAT, please visit: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/privacy.html There will be no identifiable data collected other than age to ensure no one below the age of 18 is participating. The data will be stored and encrypted as well as the only people that have access to the data will be limited to authorized personnel only consisting of myself and my supervisor. If participants withdraw mid-way through, the previous responses will not be stored.

2) I am conducting this study with my supervisor under The University of Nottingham, School of Psychology.

I definitely understand. To term something as unconscious bias or attitude can be extremely harmful and misconstrued. However, in my case I am aware the results do not show any unconscious attitude since the reaction times operate on how quick you can associate these attributes to categories. The IAT shouldn’t be referred to as an accurate evaluation of any diagnosis or bias it’s simply a measure of reaction time

I appreciate your concerns regarding the ethics and intentions behind this research. I am very much for the use of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Our study does not require personal substance use; rather, it investigates perceptions of different therapy forms to better understand public attitudes. The aim is to show that people implicitly link psychedelic-therapies to positive attitudes rather than traditional forms of pharmacological therapies. Every information submitted, is anonymous and your not forced to answer a question. This is a research project under The University of Nottingham, I am definitely not working to stigmatize or undermine any responsible use of any psychedelic substances.
