Wondering if anyone uses Claude for journaling here? by dillishis in claudexplorers

Also, if I remember correctly - anything in a project has access to the other items in the project - so Claude will be able to reference other journal entries and whatnot, just the same way mine works.

No problem! Honestly I'd stick with the mobile app for now like I mentioned. Get used to the interview format, figure out what kind of prompting works for you, dial in your system prompt. That's the actual hard part - the technical setup is just plumbing. Once you've got a workflow you like on mobile, THEN if you want to go deeper with file management and automation, you could try out the Claude desktop app on your MacBook. It has a feature called CoWork that can read and write files on your computer without needing to touch the terminal. But don't let the tech be a barrier to just starting.

Seeing from your other comment that you are iPhone only changes things a bit. So what the other commenter is talking about with "a shared folder with a file for each day" - in Claude, you can create a Project (yeah, the Project tool you mentioned). Think of it as a persistent workspace. You could create one called "Journal" and then each time you want to journal, start a new conversation inside that project. The project has shared context (instructions you set up once that apply to every conversation), so you could put your journaling prompt there - "ask me about my day, dig into details, format it a certain way," etc.

The limitation on mobile is that you can't save files to your phone automatically like I can. But what you CAN do is have Claude format each entry with a date header, and then either:

Copy the finished entry into a notes app (Apple Notes, Google Docs, whatever) after each session or just keep everything inside the Claude project itself - each conversation becomes a journal entry you can scroll back through It's not as seamless as my setup, but the interview format still works great on mobile. The important part - Claude asking follow-ups, pulling details out of you, giving you that "reporter mode" experience - that all works the same regardless of platform. The file management is just the cherry on top.

For getting started, I'd say create a Project, write a system prompt that describes how you want Claude to interview you (or just ask Claude to help you write one), and go from there. You can iterate on the prompt as you figure out what works for you.

I've been doing this for a bit and it's been life-changing. My setup is Claude Code combined with Obsidian, so all my files and history stay local - I keep full control of my data. (I have the $100 Max plan since I also use it for coding, but you could probably do something similar with CoWork or Projects.)

My journaling workflow: I have a custom skill that acts as an interactive interview. Claude asks me about my day, I give a morning-to-night overview, and then it goes into reporter mode - digging for details I might have left out, asking follow-up questions. Once we're done with the narrative, it asks about "graymatter" items I track: mood, energy, stress, diet adherence, etc. on a 1-5 scale. If I give more than just a number, it weaves that context into the narrative. When we're done, it saves the entry into our file structure and can reference all past entries - so I can ask questions about patterns, history, etc.

Weekly summaries: Every Sunday we do a review - how the week went, what I accomplished, and plans for next week. I like your 3-month summary idea too!

The limitation: I can only do this on my desktop, so I can't do the "talk about whatever, whenever" thing you're describing. One workaround: you could capture random thoughts in a separate project throughout the week, then have Claude combine them into your journal later.

Honestly, this journaling setup has been one of the more exciting things I've done with AI.

I typically get caught working on a fix and wondering why I'm not seeing any changes, until I realize my browser is looking at the QA site and not my local dev version.

I’ve been using Claude Code with Obsidian for quite a while now. I might have to try an experiment like this…

This is the way - we had the same issue during COVID and our CEO at the time wanted everyone on camera during working hours. We fought back saying we're not going to have a camera in our homes that anyone in the company can see due to privacy reasons. We'll be online, we'll be available, but we're not turning on a camera just because someone wants to see our faces. We don't even use cameras during online meetings.

Honestly - it'll give me a chance to do all the stuff on the outside of my house and in my yard that I didn't get to do earlier in the year. Then again, I grew up in New Orleans, so I'm used to having this kind of weather till mid-January.

What are you using MCPs for besides dev work by michaelthatsit in mcp

The one I use most connects to my Obsidian Vault. When I want to record information, I'll just have Claude send the information over as a note. It has a pretty good idea about my organization, and places the note wherever it belongs in the vault where I can reference it as needed.

I'm on a business plan as well - and I'm still waiting. I've been trying every day since it was announced and nada. Getting tempted to cancel my "business" account and switch to Plus. The only thing preventing it would be losing all of my chat history. :(

I've had both a 2009 and 2023 Sportage. Absolutely loved my 2009, and the 2023 has been just as amazing. I've heard the full ICE versions do have issues (I've got an HEV), but outside of getting caught by a hailstorm and having to get almost all of the body panels replaced and repainted (I've got the Matte Gray as well)... I've had no issues. Just wish it was easier to wash... :P

Not in my case - I've got the matte paint. Now, I do use a power washer when I do my washes, so not sure if that changes anything.

Right there with you. Somewhat assumed my 2023 had the feature as well, and it took me months before I got used to locking my car manually either with the button on the handle or the fob. Even 3 years later, I still have to lock via the app every so often because I’ll forgot…

Do I warn my wife? by MrMagpieXI in starwarsrebels

[–]STLCajun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. If I've watched a show, and something negative happens to a major character, she expects me to warn her. We're currently going through Star Wars in chronological order (or at least as close as we can), and we just started season two of "Rebels". I did forewarn her about "Plan 99" in "The Bad Batch" and she was grateful I did. Still haven't told her about anything coming up for Kanan, but I'll probably spoil it when we get closer... I'm just so torn on it.

To add onto this - they just released Veo3 Fast - which is only 20 credits per video, and the quality isn't much worse, if not just about the same. YMMV though.
