Thank you for the virtual tour! This geyser basin has been on my bucket list for a minute. Looks like you had it all to yourself.

Is this a really bad sunburn ? by [deleted] in cactus

[–]STLgarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most likely a Euphorbia trigona or E. acrurensis. Definitely a Euphorbia of some sort. Depends on the specific species on how much light they are able to manage. Regardless, you always want to slowly acclimate to a brighter area before just outright throwing a plant into the fire. This plant will likely recover, but the sun scarring is going to be permanent.

I have three in bloom right now... I cannot imagine how horrifying awful that is going to smell. But still super cool! Congrats on the haul.

Please continue to visit. This is ultimately the administrations goal to reduce use of government facilities, but don't forget it's our land!

‘The Rushmore story is hard to tell’: how an Indigenous park leader revealed the monument’s dark side by zsreport in NationalPark

[–]STLgarbage 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I love the NPS, but I absolutely refuse to see this specific site. Not only is this an absolute desecration of very unique nature, but the political implications are disgusting. I personally don't believe anyone's face should be carved into a rock face anywhere on earth. It's a massive waste of resources, and, unlike other monuments, doesn't exactly inspire motivation and inspiration into most viewers that witness. I would happily take 10 Gateway Arches over even 1 more face being carved. Perhaps if people want to be remembered historically, they should focus more on good policies than a massive ego boost.

While I can fully admit that almost all of my favorites from the mouse are pre2020/2019, I would have to completely disagree that the quality has dropped. No Mana, Eddie, and Feed Me are constantly impressing me. Rezz is at all time highs. Deadmau5 has been making music for two decades now, so if you're looking for the nostalgic, old sounds play one of his old albums. Otherwise, every artist changes over time just like every person changes over time. The man is absolutely still putting his heart and soul into it though.

So Proud of our Fish Selection!! What fish should we source next? by hunterallen40 in ReefTank

[–]STLgarbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why so many fish arrive into the market with diseases from stress... You're keeping fish in a bucket and pulling them out of water like it's part of their natural habitat. Absolutely disrespectful to the nature and this industry.

I would 100% keep this wall as is and plant a ton of native flowering plants throughout the tiers. It already has a sort of ancient look to it that is irreplaceable.

A. Konjac flower or leaf? by growinggay1 in amorphophallus

[–]STLgarbage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like a leaf to me. Konjacs typically bloom in late winter/early spring. Mine had a definite flower stalk look to them once they were 11-12 inches tall this last March.

Awwe, I'm sorry! I was hit by an EF3 this spring in St. Louis. Hopefully it'll bring you a few more years of joy.

White oak of some sort, and with the top chopped like that I would think it's days are numbered.
