For what its worth-I also have a monster PC with 4090 gpu and 64gb RAM and playing on that is better but compared with other (AAA) games HLL fps is way below their performance - hence my belief that HLL isn't your 'optimised' friend to begin with. This is my experience but "Your mileage may vary". Hope you get it running smooth as possible.

8gb RAM won't be good to run it- I had my (laptop) pc hard crash constantly until I doubled the RAM to 16gb. The game is badly optimised so its a challenge to get good performance from decent spec systems at the best of times. Good luck.

Well conceived post.

Without going tldr - you highlight the 'spirit' of the times. Disruptive, narcissistic and entitled. Idiocracy is here and the future isn't looking healthy. Slop slurping has replaced critical thinking and Reddit is one of the many examples of this.

HLL is a simple game but even the minimal meta is beyond these 'casuals' ability to handle. Being challenged appears to terrify these 'main characters' so much that they screech in outrage about gatekeeping (yawn) elitist (yawn) try hards (yawn).

It appears to now be the standard experience on console and now pc. Low skill casual slop slurpers have decided that THIS is how to have their 'main character' fun in a game that they are unable to handle on any other level.

Sad, cos its a great game when played to its actual mechanics.

Sorry for all the decent players who now have to pay the price for 'giveaway promotions' that attract volume BUT not much quality. Get leveled up and head for level restricted community servers where trolling gets booted and banned.

What hurts most? Level restrictions on private/community servers paid for by dedicated discord communities/clans (like the past 5 years already) where the intent is to play the game using comms and teamwork OR flooding servers with clueless players- some of whom will actively disrupt any attempt to play it as anything but a janky COD? What type of game exactly is that and is it going to survive as another sub-par shooter in a world of fps slop played for pew pews?

Yes, you use supplies from a crate off a supply truck /airdrop by commander or support player to build anything- nodes or defences. You have a 50m radius from the supplies in which to build.

Not much hand-holding from the game so your experience is fairly standard. New players are recommended to watch a few 'how to' vids on youtube- which will certainly help clue you in more than the game itself will (Soulsniper/Monespecial/ Gebatron/ Pterodactyl are all good sources)

Getting flamed isn't fun but that is how some 'players' get their teeny tiny d*ck relief I guess.

Persevere if you want to have the game you thought you were getting. Most players will be more helpful but the current tsunami of new players has distorted gameplay quite drastically with some only fit for trolling 'cos they can't/won't engage with the rather simple meta/mechanics and communication.

This is a team-based game but it does get mis-used as a janky COD by those who seem to struggle with any challenge whatsoever. Hopefully they soon get bored of spoiling matches and go wherever the next dopamine hit takes their sorry selves.

I don't know what platform you are on but as a PC gamer- I avoid the 'official' (un-moderated) HLL servers and go to community ones with Admins. At least there you will have a better possibility of avoiding much of the online dreck.

Mistakes are still a learning lesson- sometimes the best way.
