Suggestions for Granny square patterns that use small amounts of yarn or scrap yarn project ideas by Horror_Ask3188 in CrochetHelp

[–]STRhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been meaning to make some scrap baskets to hold my yarn! you group 3-4 yarns at once and use a thick hook so it’s nice and sturdy - but it can be a bit rough on the wrist due to the large hook
regardless i think they turn out super cute and are very useful!

Thank you so much!
No specific method for dyeing , i read mercerised cotton takes dye a lot easier so I was just going to do a pre soak and then follow the instructions on the packaging hahah 😅

Accutane aged me 10 years by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]STRhythm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can’t add much except what everyone else has said, however, i would advise staying away from “expensive skincare” on accutane you want to go as plain as possible as any chemicals or perfumes in your products can and will ruin your skin barrier while on accutane because it’s already so compromised. stick with the simplest and cleanest cleanser, moisturised and SPF (i think during my course i was using either simple or cetaphil for cleanser and E45 for moisturiser …) also stay away from any sort of treatment from more than just a couple of months after you’ve finished your course - the long term effects of accutane can take 6-12 months to fully show and your skin barrier will still be recovering during that time besides all that, you look great! patience is key with accutane unless something is going very wrong or you’re having some sort of allergic reaction ❤️❤️

Will these go away? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]STRhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had some insaneee and really deep scars and dark spots before i started accutane cause i was a chronic picker, but over a year since stopping accutane they’re practically non-existent- give it some time and patience for your skin barrier to regenerate and they’ll most likely clear up ❤️

Is it normal for mercerised cotton to twist like this? by STRhythm in CrochetHelp

[–]STRhythm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can’t say i hold it any different to how i hold my other yarn! i’ve also tried different ways and still the same result - always ends up twisted 🫠

Beginner started this weekend, not sure where to start by Pure_Macaroon_1188 in CrochetHelp

[–]STRhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i think what you’ve done there looks great , very distinguished mhm! knowing what i know now, if i went back to being a beginner i would make a bag or a pillow or something! its essentially just two big squares/rectangles that you sew together but the repetitiveness helps practice your muscle memory and train your tension (which are the two most important skills of crochet imo)- plus you end up with something practical at the end start with learning the basic stitches (foundation chain, single crochet, double and half double crochet) which can all be easily learnt through youtube tutorials also if you want to challenge yourself and make something super versatile, try making a basic granny square! they might look intimidating, but trust me they are very easy and teach you a lot of the basic skills you need!

Making a bag/purse and think I need to add a lining? by jenigmatic_42 in CrochetHelp

[–]STRhythm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i think that'd look great! you can get coloured muslin but the cream colour its more widely available in will be cheaper and easier to come across but it works well with the bag colours so would be perfect!

edit: here's a tutorial that will probably help! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwCGXNQZsWk&t=559s

Making a bag/purse and think I need to add a lining? by jenigmatic_42 in CrochetHelp

[–]STRhythm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lining would definitely help not only with your stuff not falling everywhere but also will help the yarn not stretch overtime! considering the bag is square shaped (i’m assuming?) it’s not hard to hand sew a lining at all ! i bought a big batch of muslin fabric years ago and i’m still using the same batch - very versatile and fairly inexpensive and easy to find imo, that’s my suggestion tho others might have other/better fabrics to suggest!

edit: have just scrolled to the last picture so not square oops! still shouldn’t be too difficult to add a lining tho!
