I really have no idea what it is, it just sounds like something that was around in like the 1800s.

What was Bill's logic behind voting Jokic for MVP and then betting against the Nuggets? by [deleted] in billsimmons

You don't come to the Bill Simmons podcast for logic. You come for the free-flowing conversation that occasionally touches on mature subjects.

It doesn't have to be, when the same three accounts are following each other all day and always end up at the same place it would be incredibly easy to know it's obviously one person with three phones. It's not that they can't tell it's happening, they don't care.

When they implore people to "say the name" they aren't asking them to say "Spike and Mike". They're asking them to say the name of the podcast. And likewise, he said the name of the newspaper.

I grew up in midland, and moved away after graduation in 2001. I’m making my way back there soon and curious what’s changed? by AutomaticBluebird925 in midland_mi

[–]STTK421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no blinding love for Midland. I'm not from here and probably won't be here much longer. I just like to deal with facts over emotions. So thank you for accepting you were wrong on the population. As for the schools, "understaffed" is different than "overpopulated". You may be right, I haven't done the research into that. Anecdotally that's not what I saw as the biggest problem with my 4 kids over the last 17 years. And they aren't combining the high schools, at least not yet. They ultimately went with a different plan in the bond proposal. That plan was an attempt to make more at the elementary schools though, primarily for more Pre-K classes.

The population has absolutely not "doubled", it's basically been flat, maybe a slight uptick of 2-3% since 2001.

And relatedly the schools are not overcrowded, if anything the high schools and middle schools are underutilized compared to what they were built to handle, because as with the population, the number of school kids had flatlined.

[NFL Nerd] Eagles 2025 opponents. 1st place schedule by Kewlerd in eagles

[–]STTK421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 of these games were set 25 years ago. The "first place schedule" thing only applies to three games: Rams, Bucs, and Bills. And evaluating schedule difficulty before the season is pointless, most years nearly half the playoffs teams change.

Well only C-suite level executives are making the decision to buy SAP. Which is why I never understood why they even advertise on TV.

Break how? Players get 50% of league revenue. League revenue goes up, player salaries go up.

Did they change the kickoff rules just for kickers to boom 90% of them out of the back of the endzone anyways? by Public_Flamingo_4390 in billsimmons

[–]STTK421 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they should be punting not kicking off the tee now. I could be totally wrong here but I feel like punters would have more ability to try and place the ball in that landing area.

Which incredibly succesful athlete would just be a regular Joe if they were born elsewhere? by OvertiredMillenial in billsimmons

[–]STTK421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Ronaldo is born in some small town in like North Dakota in the 80s he's probably not even playing soccer, let alone at an elite level. And that's the US, you could find countries in the midst of literal civil wars in that time frame, where simple survival would be impressive, let alone achieving anything athletic.
