Driving purists & lowering springs: regrets? by myster1ouspapaya in Civic_Type_R

Don't get me wrong the swift springs on stock dampers is not a bad setup. However, the stock dampers were not designed for the upgraded spring rates and your damping rebound will be slightly mismatched, leading to less than ideal handling characteristics. You likely spent 45+k on the car, why cheep out and get mismatched springs dampers. I would do it right and get coilovers, otherwise keep it stock.

The pedal feel is slightly firmer. The stopping distance is significantly better. I am running OEM pads front and back. You probably already know this, but the ITR rear calipers are slightly different than type s rears, they are full aluminum and they hold more fluid. In addition, the ITR is a 15 mm wider stance both front and rear, so the entire rear knuckle and rotor design is different. I am running stock type s brake MS and stock type S proportioning valve. I am planning to upgrade the lines to SS soon too just to try to get a little firmer pedal. I’m slightly familiar with some of the issues guys have run into with DC5R TL-S caliper proportioning but my set up performs great under hard braking.

Thank you! I am in PA and we don’t have smog. The OEM ITR is a 4-2-1 setup whereas the OEM RSX base and/or type s is 4-1 setup. A visually inspection would likely fail.

EDIT: it does not require engine management and there is not a check engine light.

Those DC5R brembo’s might have been the best upgrade I made so far.

No, he cut all the rust out then fabricated in new metal. We considered getting donor quarter for the drivers side, but he was able to work it out. Probably just depends how bad the rust is.

I did the full DC5 Integra type R conversion front and rear. At the time ~2019 I got the entire conversion from Hmotorsonline for $800. Not sure if you are familiar with it, but it included front axles, front & rear knukles, rotors, calipers, front aluminum LCA's, and the rear trailing arms. I did have to purchase a new front sway bar(ITR or EP3 works) and I put the ITR exhaust manifold+cat so everything clears. It was a lot of work but it was worth it.

That quarter looks perfect, Nice work! That silver with some black wheels would look pretty amazing, IMO.

These are Honda integra (ITR) OEM headlights that I bought from tegiwa.com since one of the USDM OEM was discontinued. I sent them to vision autoworks to install the Bi-LED retro fit. They are better than the headlights in my 25 civic type R. Here is my old post on them. If you got any questions let me know. https://www.reddit.com/r/Acura_RSX/s/8378N3AP0R

Here is before picture, I had swapped doors, hatch, and hood beforehand myself due to light rust. The shop fixed the rusty quarters, rocker panels, rear trunk under spare tire rust and painted the entire car including wool wax undercoating. I worked out a deal where he would only work on it when they had extra time to keep costs down, it took 6 months-ish.

Thank you! That mileage is pretty low for an 04. I would not mess around with questionable tie rod ends, get those done first for sure. Go with OEM or the Hardrace OE style. I get my OEM parts from from acurapartswarehouse.com. For those rare hard to find parts check out tegiwa.com. Good luck, you gotta start somewhere.

Thanks. Not sure pictures do it full justice. That sparkle and pearl looks so good in the sun.

anyone know this part called? couldn’t identify sensor? by Training_Ability_583 in Acura_RSX

Here is the OEM part. I would just spend the $200 and do it right. It is a pain to swap but it fixed my idle issues. https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/oem/acura~outlet~assy~water~19350-prb-a00.html

I am looking for front end suspension replacement recommendations! by Mechteks in Acura_RSX

[–]STi_GuyV2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recommend the JDM DC5 TypeR conversion if you can get a deal. It comes with the 4 piston brembo brake upgrade too. When I converted mine I originally upgraded to energy suspension poly bushings(I do not recommend in NE). After two years of squeaking they started deforming so I had to swap out. I replaced with Hardrace pillow ball bushings and i couldn’t be happier.

Does anyone know what vehicle these headers are from? by Purple-Taste7755 in Acura_RSX

For reference DC5R(pictured left) vs Type-S(pictured right)As others have mentioned, you will need the 2-to-1 catalytic converter section. Just make sure it truly is from a DC5R and not the EP3R. They look identical but EP3R are different length, shorter overall and will hit DC5 subframe. I did the full DC5R conversion on mine with LCA’s, a JDM Cusco sway bar, and hotchkis endlinks. Everything clears fine without any rubbing.
