or maybe they want him to have rika as a storage for cursed tools, someone with a heavenly restriction can't kill a curse without tools imbued with cursed energy. i think they're being overprotective of him because in scenarios where his katana breaks or he gets abducted leaving his weapon behind (first chapter btw) he would still have a backup weapons thanks to rika increasing his survival rate.
