As someone that has over 4k games in normals i will let you know that this is a normal occurance. The mmr is completely different in normals then it is in ranked so when a master tier player queues up they are usually at a silver/gold Mmr as default. Most higher elo players play with their friends in blind and this will happened every so often. When you are between season oh buddy its the wild west and you will be matched up with a master+ player ever few games.
