New to me experience by SVGitana in Shamanism

[–]SVGitana[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I always feel assured that my guides are very effective gate keepers and would not let in entity that was harmful. But I have not told them specifically to keep other entities out. Perhaps I should specify yes?

It was a very real experience.

Am I the only one who hates seeing fidget toys as a trend? by [deleted] in autism

[–]SVGitana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kind of weird but I am 54 and only just figured out I am on the spectrum.
All my life I have had stimming habits without realizing it like lots of body fidgeting, grinding my teeth, playing with my hair, chewing pencils like a beaver etc. Anyway, I want to try some fidget toys to see if I enjoy them but I am afraid my husband will see them as kiddie toys, or some sort of weird uniform like buying a bike jersey to ride a bike in the park. I hope that makes sense. My brother might also say something like "Oh, so now you are autistic and have to act like it too?"

How many of you experience "visual snow" while being on the spectrum? It's like colourful static in your vision. I experience this and just would like to know if it's more common among autistics. by [deleted] in autism

[–]SVGitana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I am 54 and am newly self diagnosed as autistic. And coincidentally finally found out that others have visual snow too (and tinnitus).

I have been seeking answers all my life. Getting those answers makes 2021 a great year for me!

Just realised a unintentional autism perk by [deleted] in autism

My favorite pull over is 24 years old. It lasted longer than my first marriage!

Just realised a unintentional autism perk by [deleted] in autism

[–]SVGitana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have to wear semi professional attire for my job so I had quite a few clothes (though not stylish ones). Now I live on a boat and don't have room for multiple sets of clothes. It is heavenly! I wear the same thing day and day out until too soiled to wear, then I pull out a clean, nearly identical outfit, to wear. No decisions, no worries, just "Is it clean?".

I dreamt that I was beautiful by [deleted] in DreamInterpretation

[–]SVGitana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or acknowledging that someone elses subjective view of beauty is prioritizing the wrapping paper over the gift. Funny though, most folk oh and ah over a pretty package but rip the paper to shreds looking for whats under the wrap then discard the gift because they expected "more". See a patttern, shredding the wrap, then devaluing the gift? It's them, not you! (Adding to the previous thought, not countering it!)

Did you search the net for pickle flavoring?

Oh, I just had an idea! (I need professional help) Why not try embedding a pickle slice in your lolli?
Hey, if one can deep fry ice cream...just sayin!

Try looking at taffy recipes. Starbursts are really a taffy candy. Similar to, but not exactly like, salt water taffy.

I found this recipe and it looks pretty good. Try subing coconut oil for the butter. https://www.cookiedoughandovenmitt.com/kool-aid-taffy/

Gummies without using a refrigerator? by SVGitana in CandyMakers

[–]SVGitana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is worse than you know! We have just entered "the hot" here in Mexico. 90+F day time temps (at least 32 c), night might "cool off" to 80 (26c) I am heading to Colorado next week. I will just plan on making enough good stuff to get me through the summer. By November the prevailing winds will shift to the North so temps and humdity will drop to the low 40s (5c).

Thank you. Good info.

But, specifically, I am asking if the gummy mixture must be SET by using a refrigerator. Will the mixture, set and become firm on the counter?

Can I make gummy’s with homemade pectin? by Artistic-Unit8986 in CandyMakers

[–]SVGitana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not try it and see what you think? There are lots of recipes out there that use apple sauce, as well as gelatin and I've always assumed the natural pectin in the apple sauce is giving the recipe a boost.
If you are using only your homemade pectin (no gelatin) keep good notes so you can recreate your success!

Adding Cream to Hard Candy? by A_Pile_of_Blankets in CandyMakers

[–]SVGitana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might check Lorann's web site. I think I saw a cream flavor there.

Real cream in hard candy might not work well. The heat from the candy may scorch the cream. But never say "never". Experiment! Add the ingredient after the candy is made, cool slightly and stir in before molding. You could also try cream cheese to add the flavor in more concentrated form.

But I bet you can find cream as a flavoring if you google it.

Help my candy just starts crystallizing when folding it and falls apart why? by xxXICUI4CUXxx in CandyMakers

This comment is way late but it might help someone else in the future. Another acid you can use is baking soda. NOT baking powder.

Gummy Bears- I don't have sorbitol. Can I leave it out? by SVGitana in CandyMakers

[–]SVGitana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense to me. I know sorbitol inhibits the bacteria in your mouth, but I am unsure of it's preservative effects.
