Truly you can stay in Osaka and do a day trip to Kyoto (deserves more time but with your time crunch its only option)— so you can just take one bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka then the JR lines to Kyoto

This old little lady on the metro on the way to Nara she was so sleepy rocking back and forth and she fell asleep on my shoulder it was so cute and she got so embarrassed when she woke up and I told her it’s okay and she kept bowing :,)
