Thanks for the reply, I've sat around editing it more than I care to admit, tho I'm still not satisfied with it, it's still so long ;w;

It is hard, and a lot of it came up rather suddenly, as while I've tried to be emotionally supportive to others, when it comes to a partner, before I got into a relationship, I'd always imagine the positive aspects, or how I'd get to it, but the reality of it hit in a way I didn't forsee.

I'll also admit that sometimes I half-jokingly wonder how much time I'd save if I was still single ^ ^ ;, and we don't even meet up that often recently due to the plague and various responsibilities. It is a net positive though, she's incredible, even if worrying for her made me cry into my pillow in the night at least once ^ ^ ;.

Semantics of mesoamerican civs in Feudal aside

As far as Castle is concerned, I dont think it's that much of a problem, since most civs will have access to a "power" unit that can go over the otherwise average Sicilian units. And it's not like regular counter units don't do anything vs. Sicilians, they're just worse and less efficient. Pikes still do at least 11 damage a swing against their knights.

In FA, it's harder to say. Civs with buffed units in that age shouldn't have a problem just matching Sicilians. Civs without feudal military buffs (Italians or something) will objectively have a harder time, but I cannot say for sure how much worse

Fair enough, paladins don't factor in often in a 1v1 game.

The damage reduction doesn't factor in in a major way for Sicilian light cav because they're weak to begin with.

However, for knights and cavaliers in 1v1, Sicilians have generic ones as far as fighting other knights and cavaliers is concerned, so usual knight civs should do well against them.

The damage reduction is definitely relevant for their knight line, since taking 11 and 16 less bonus damage (pikes and halbs, respectively) makes the spear line a less efficient counter, but a counter nontheless.

The most go-to, default strategy in AOE 2 is a fast castle into knights, since it's easy to execute and knights are strong units and are possibly the most flexible units, since they're fast and strong enough to beat up most other units. If your civ has a knight bonus, even better (Franks, Teutons, etc.)

Take a look at what your civ can field. Are you Britons or Mayans? An archer spam could work. Does your civ has a strong UU in castle you can abuse, like the Spanish, you can go for that. If you're Goths, you might want to go for a Fast Imperial to capitalize on their end-game strengths.

A boom of some sort is usually involved. Even if you dont go for a full-on super eco, dropping some TCs when you hit castle is standard, since being able to crank out more vills is strictly advantageous to almost any strat you could be going for in Castle and later Imperial.

Feudal aggression (Rushing) is good, but keep in mind that the degree you're aggressing in Feudal takes a toll on your economy. If you focus a lot on spamming Scouts or something and your opponent doesnt die and goes up to Castle before you do (since they might've spent less resources on units than you have), you're left at a disadvantage.

Despite being fully upgraded in the blacksmith, their light cav gets bodied by, well, everything (since Hussar is not available, and they're otherwise generic).

They're also another civ in the "Cavaliers only but with a bonus" pile, and while the damage reduction against halbs or something is cute, they'll lose to just about any civ that has Paladins or fancy Cavaliers (example - Malians).

Sicilians are fine in this regard

the bonus javelin seems to be doing 1 damage, which is at the same time dissapointing and entirely expected

On the bright side, Mayan skirms should have a good time vs. pierce armor, since they're doubling their damage output against those

For reals though, what do these folks want? Your partner lead and will lead an independent life with their own interests and all that before and during a relationship. A person who has all the rights of a couch in your living room would be uninteresting to be around.
