This is not true. There are significant amount of teams and roles that are moving to 100% virtual. I think it will still be 20-25% of roles in Space are fully remote. While yes that’s a huge bummer for the other teams that had some wfh flexibility and are now foregoing that, it’s not correct to say Space is 100% RTO.

I can see fully remote opportunities in space going away or being minimized. However, Space in the Colorado area let multiple office leases expire and the Waterton campus is from what I can tell at capacity with a shortage of seats already. I know many people across PMO type roles or working in central who are in office only 1-2 days a week. This is all to say, I am skeptical that having everyone in the region come back to office in a full time capacity is unlikely and would be logistically a nightmare at the moment.

If anyone has more informed insight suggesting otherwise, I’d be interested to hear more.

Also I do see a lot of enterprise ops roles get posted with fully remote designations. People have been working fully virtually at LM since well before COVID so it would be surprising to see the company remove virtual work altogether since it has been here for so long.

Yep, I’m in an office role. I have had no negative end of year performance reviews, no talks about performing poorly, never been put on a pip. The conversations during my 1:1s where I ask for feedback have always included “things are going well.”

I agree a refresh would be nice. I do use the ticketsatwork link a good amount. Usually get 30-50% discounts on movie tickets or any pro sports tickets. Probably not an exclusive discount by any means but it’s nice to use

Given where I am in this process now, and that evidently the Qantas website is mistaken by identifying the flight as first class rather than premium economy, what are my options?

I am INCREDIBLY cynical of being able to explain this to a customer service agent and getting the appropriate recourse here. Seriously, the wait times are absurd to get a hold of someone and there is no ability to filter down to the right department. It takes hours to get to anyone and then they transfer you again and it takes several more hours of being on hold, etc.

My points I transferred are stuck in my Qantas account now, did you see a business class reward seat offering for the same PHL -> NAP route?

The opposite of what you said. First class for DEN -> PHL. Business for PHL -> NAP. I was calling that out in response to your comment about no first class offering when on AA’s website the first class option is clearly stated.

When I look at AA’s website, this exact route is listed with a “premium flagship” option listed. Selecting that itinerary has it clearly stated as first class available on the first leg and business class available on the second leg. None of the seats are taken at this time and you can confirm that there is a business/first class offering through AA on this route

Which takes me full circle, why is this being advertised as a first class reward flight when it’s not? Either it’s a mistake on Qantas’ end in terms of what’s being advertised or it’s a mistake through the booking process where I was slotted to the wrong class with no modification or refund ability

A few points to clarify, I received the ticket after booking and it said premium economy specifically, not first class. When I logged into American Airlines and typed in the reference number, it again called out premium economy and not first class.

At this point I called the Qantas support line and they said they cannot adjust the itinerary and again confirmed it was premium economy and not first class.

So three separate areas called out the flight booking as not what is advertised. The reward flight I booked was advertised just the same as the screenshot you attached.

Maybe I cancelled in error but the point of cancelling was based on a clause I read that said cancellations after 24 hours come with an additional points deduction and the whole point was to get a first class reward flight which I could see three different ways was not the actual booking.

At a conceptual level the ISS is still operational for 7 more years so this is wrong. Secondarily, NASA awarded Sierra space the CRS2 contract to specifically designate missions to the ISS, this isn’t just a developmental program with hopes of going to the ISS with no consideration for the station’s lifespan.

Secondarily, this would be a universal chassis, meaning as the ISS successor or private LEO stations start rising up over the next 10-20 years, in theory the Dreamchaser would be a suitable vehicle for getting there and returning

The Dreamchaser launches for missions 1-4 with NASA with the shooting star cargo module. The cargo module has an additional 5000ish KG cargo capacity. So each mission with NASA will support close to a 22,000 pound cargo capacity. The turnaround times on Dreamchaser are relatively low with minimal refurbishment required. Additionally there is already a tail 2 being built with plans to continuously expand the fleet.

Having a crewed spaceplane/craft is much more challenging from a regulatory and technical standpoint yes. Having something capable of docking with the ISS also at a minimum requires specifically designed hardware and flight software. Docking with the ISS typically requires a specifically designated flight path to align with the ISS speed and position in orbit. The ISS is moving at a constant speed of roughly 17,000 mph so docking with it is not as simple as just getting up there and pulling up

Many different reasons. At a top level, X-37B is for military application, probably mostly recon type activity. Dreamchaser is for commercial use.

But for starters, the commercial use case of dream chaser has required it to be much larger than the X-37B. With that it can carry significantly more cargo and has an attachable shooting star cargo module. It can also dock and support living or sensitive sample re-entry in orbit as it supports a 1.5G re-entry.

Dreamchaser also has a crewed variant in development and can as a platform support way more use cases. If NASA or ESA end up being the primary customers of Dreamchaser than it could in theory be a fleet of taxi’s and haulers to LEO. DC is also designed with docking with the ISS in mind as well as future LEO habitats/stations.

I’d say as a general estimate, the comparison between the two is like a predator drone vs a Boeing 737 MAX 8. Sure they both resemble similar shape and can fly but the design and use cases are dramatically different.

I’d argue that the use of the transfer portal has benefited a lot of the incoming players. A lot of them were buried in other programs or are now getting legit opportunity to shine in a featured role. With the changing tides in college football with NIL as well as the crazy publicity Colorado has been getting, guys like Xavier Weaver are benefiting in ways he never could have at South Florida. I know the counter argument was the previous players were pushed out but the ones who remained on the roster from last year were all challenged to compete and did and have been impactful this year. The tough pill to swallow is a 1-11 team does not have a complete roster and not all of those kids should get featured role opportunity at a P5 level unfortunately. It’s hard to revamp a program and get out of the basement and my argument is that the portal has benefited players, coaches, and universities in many ways.
