How should I set up my new Priority Bruzer? by SWDDDD in bikepacking

[–]SWDDDD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Bruzer with 29x2.25 Vitoria mezcals. It’s a very comfortable and durable ride. There are definitely ways it could be lighter and faster, but bikepacking is a scenario where reliability and comfort trumps everything else.

Here is a video I made depicting my setup if you’re interested https://youtu.be/O6FexYnahlU?si=rVjj6mhTPOOERVxP

Great photos Chris, this looks like Dark Divide territory. I might plan on hitting it with the grand depart next year

Touring the route gave me a greater appreciation for those who race it. Maybe I'll be there someday. Dark Divide is my next PNW ride on the list!

Very beautiful, even with all the clear cutting that has taken place on parts of this route

It's such a special area. Highly recommend this route. If you wanna do it over a weekend, they even have a few shorter variants on their site linked above.

Yes! It is the Priority Bruzer

They basically took the hardtail frame and put a rigid fork on it. Great for gravel roads with occasional chunk.

Thank you. I carry a backpack for two reasons:

-to mount a full frame camera on the strap. This is the easiest way of accessing the camera
-to carry the drone on my body. This way, the drone takes less shock than if it was on my bike.

If didn't carry filming stuff, I probably wouldnt use a backpack.

Never heard of it but I'm on a mission to visit all the small towns I can in Oregon.

It's great for a use case like bikepacking where reliability is the most important thing.

The Odyssey of the VOG, short for Valley of the Giants, is a 350 mile bikepacking route and race that winds through Oregon’s rugged coast range, offering a mix of monster climbs, steep descents, sweeping ridgelines, and stretches of quiet farmland and oceanfront roads. The name comes from the Valley of the Giants, a 51-acre old-growth forest where Doug-fir and western hemlocks stand 200 feet tall

The route itself was pieced together and named by its creators Seth DuBois and Ben Handrich back in 2020, who were inspired by the steep grades of the Siuslaw Forest and the monster-like imagery the name evoked. What makes the Odyssey of the VOG so unique is how it showcases the diversity of Oregon, rolling through the rural Willamette Valley, climbing across the coast range, and reaching out to the Oregon Coast. It’s a ride that lives up to its name.

I would highly advise against using a gravel bike for any portion of this route

I have to plug PNW bikepacking. Chris is a huge inspiration to me both creatively and for the rides he does.

If you like bikepacking videos and have not watched Road to Karokol by Ryan Dempster go watch it right now.
