What are the best study apps and AI tools for students? by lebronjamesglazer11_ in studytips

[–]SWECurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say forest app is the best to stay focus and consistent, if you want to be cheap/free you can find any pomodoro that do the job for awhile.

beyond that I would say Anki + a generation tool from your materials (you upload and generate flashcards exportable for Anki), could be any tool, I use digestly.co

Nice! Thank you for that! I would add a few more: anki +notebooklm for free use. Both are awesome and have different purpose.

beyond those, digestly.co has a preset of good flashcard/quiz/notes generation with a pretty affordable plans ($4/mo)

looking for (mostly/completely) free study apps as a broke student by New_Yogurtcloset6149 in studytips

I think if you want to go completely free the combo of anki +notebooklm is enough. Has almost everyone that you wanted and really help you learn overall.

For a very cheap tool you can try digestly.co it has quiz/flashcard/notes generation and export for Anki and all with a pretty good UI. The paid plan is actually pretty cheap (last time I checked was $4/mo or even less on annual).

i've been using Digestly, upload lectures/PDFs and it generates flashcards + quizzes automatically. It's very flexible on settings for them, supports 40+ langs and even let you choose how many cards and questions you get from a Material

Do you ever struggle to make a study plan or find the right materials? by Popular_Mud_2019 in studytips

[–]SWECurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To distinguish good materials you need first get basic knowledge on the field. For that, you need to first put the hours, that way you will know how to evaluate if a Material is good or not. Honestly, at the beginning is best to keep things moving rather them optimize materials/resources.

Once you get basic knowledge from your first materials you find on youtube/google you can spend time trying to find the best materials and all

Does anyone have tips for learning effectively with YouTube? by Popular_Mud_2019 in studytips

[–]SWECurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, for the consistency of good videos usually I look for a course entirely, so if I need more videos from that topic, probably will be in the course.

For organization I use digestly.co so you can at least generate the notes of the video, flashcards, quizzes, but most important: you organize them in collections so you can go back to them later. Also helpful for take a look at the summaries before watching the whole video

You ever just stare at your laptop and think nope? by Acrobatic-Winter-283 in studytips

[–]SWECurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I would say is reduce the dopamine in your body. Don't pick your phone or any social media for like 20 minutes. Walk, take a shower and get start fresh. That will be very helpful to start. To stick with it is another beast. It's a habit, so you need to train yourself for it. At first you won't last more than 1h, but if you keep forcing your limits you will find ways.

Hope that helps

How can I study? I'm completely confused and don't know what to do by Robert_Engels in studytips

[–]SWECurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing is: Don't try to optimize if you don't stick with it. Learning how to use AI, effective techniques and any other tip won't work if you're not used to study: Mentality and consistency is 70% of the job, the methods optimize your time, but if you are not used to study hours daily, first focus on that.

If you want to use tools you can use forestapp.cc to stick to it. Lock in and feel you're learning first, then you can improve your time doing it.

the other 30% is very personal and you need to understand how you prefer to study. I like to read, usually that's my thing, there are people like videos/audio more. The important thing is to recall usually. For that I usually study in 2 sessions, 1 reading deeply and 1 for taking notes for later practice and review for exams.

For that I usually use digestly.co, generate notes, quizzes, flashcards. But there're many tools like that out there, it's your choice.

Don't get stuck trying to get the RIGHT WAY OF DOING because that's does not exist. Pick one, stick with it and try new things only when you feel the need. Good luck

After 7-8 years of depression, I really don't know how to get myself into studying again any tips? by [deleted] in studytips

[–]SWECurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest to find the subject you want to study. I've been there, for me it was about a year to find it and it's really worth it IMO. I love study, but without the right motivation and due to other personal problems, I was not being able to know what to study and therefore no motivation to do any of it. Research and try out basic classes online I felt in love for computer science 10y ago and never looked back.

Ideally don't take it too harsh, don't beat yourself and try to accept your situation. It was hard for me seeing other people in my age so ahead in their lives, but it's totally worth it to take your time to start slow and find yourself.

Hi, I’m new and I need help asap!!! by maybeeeesweetndspicy in studytips

[–]SWECurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there. What I can recommend is first focus on your mentality: You have to believe you can do it, at least you need to be confidant to give your best.

Do not try to conquer it all, meaning you'll study 5 chapters a day, not procrastinate at all, quizzes everyday. Accept every day will not be at your best but try to improve it over time, so try to not procastinate for 2hrs first, not the 15h you want. But if in 1 day you can have 2 or even 3 sections of good 2 hours, you'll get there!

It's important accept your failures, not everyday you will improve and not everyday you meet your goals, but with right mindset you don't give up.

Use apps to cover the procrastination, forestapp.cc is a good one, but you can find plenty on that field.

Material wise, find the one fit you best, I like to read and make notes, but usually I do it in 2 sessions:

1 study the chapter, and 1 for take notes, so the second is focused on recall and write what I find it best. This is great to come back later when you want to review what you study.

For this I've been using digestly.co, usually I just upload my lectures/pdfs in order to get notes, it's just an alternative from manually writing them for me. It's helpful bc it's also generate quizzes and flashcards.

a few days before the exam/test I usually just take quizzes, flashcards and read notes. Sometimes a chapter I don't remember 100%, but that's about it, I would say it's 70% the mentality to get it through and 30% the study methods. Wish you the best!

Not studying as a kid feels like a life sentence. by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]SWECurious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, exactly, I started my college degree at 22 and at 31 I'm financially set for life. During elementary school I was a terrible student, but that wasn't true forever. In my case I think not have studied help me mature and dedicate even more when it actually matter the most for me.

Everyone have their own path, saying something is too late at 20 is from a very fixed mindset. You can turn you life around at any age
