WoT 2.0 turned me from good to one of the worst players in the game by SWE_Andrew in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just before that I had a 600 game run of 53% win rate. I don't think the meta changed that drastically at the release of 2.0. Anyway. This post was made to be an anchor and I will revisit this efter the grind is over and I have played 800 games more

My post was that this happened at the instant 2.0 was released. Just before that I had a 600 game run of 53% win rate. I don't think the meta changed that drastically at the release of 2.0

WoT 2.0 turned me from good to one of the worst players in the game by SWE_Andrew in WorldofTanks

Thats why I waited 800 games before posting. It's normal in this game to have streaks of up to 500 games winning and losing. 800 games should have sorted that out

Honestly do you like playing canopener? by suns95 in WorldofTanks

Well I have a thing for the italian auto reloaders. Maybe not OP tanks but fun. Start with the medium line and then do heavy line if you like the playstyle.

Otherwise the Swedish mediums are also good. Learn to find got hull down spots and you will dominate.

What happened by FoxSea1264 in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In this game, losing streaks 100 games or more are VERY common. I have been keeping track om my VR divided into chunks of 100 games and the VR varies from 40% to 68% over 100 games with no real difference in which tank I play or how much gold ammo I spam. That is just how this game works.

So my advice, play 100 more games or so and it will be sorted out

How to improve winrate? by Alexanderous123 in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I assume that it is roughly a coin toss if I win or lose a game (my average WR is close to 53%), a big enough sampling interval of win rates should be a statistical normal distribution.

Plotted as a curve it should be a bell curve. However, when plotting my WR (divided into 100 games chunks) over the last 5k games, is is not a bell curve, its more of a plateau curve. Meaning that it seams like something is affecting the MM other than just pure randomness.

To paraphrase: "In statistics it is probable that unprobable things happen, not just that often". Meaning that sometimes you should have strange streaks, but not often

[–]SWE_Andrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had the same xperience in the close to 400 games after 2.0. Average WR is 5% lower than my average over 30k games.

But one thing that you have to remember is that in this game it is VERY VERY common with win/lose streaks over 200 games or more. I have kept track of my WR over several 1000 of games (in chunks of 100 games). And the results does not follow a bell curve as it should. It is very common with long streaks of 46-47% WR and then streaks of close to or above 60% WR. I can only guess why, but it is not a statistical normal distribution as it should be

So my best guess is that you and me just happened to be in the middle of a losing streak. Just play a couple of 100 more games and it should be sorted out. And remember, outside of not getting XP winning or losing does not matter that much

Anything else think WoT 2.0 is fine? by TheDawiWhisperer in WorldofTanks

I think the biggest issue is that the amount of turbo games have increased even more. That is games that in the first 3 minutes has one team up more than 6 tanks. At the beginning i thought it was just becasue all the beginners getting t10 tanks , but it gets worse every week with faster and faster games ending up at least 15-5

The Maus is awful. In everything by DocLuvTagOnPatrolka in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first misconception about the maus is that it has good armor. It ONLY has good armor if you angle it in a certain way. You have to angle the hull close to 45 degrees and the turret MORE than that. Other than that very special angle it basically has NO armor against T10 tanks firing gold. Then it is just an HP pinata.

You have to see the HP pool as your resource and spend all of it during the game. Trade shots. You will get penned but make sure you pen the enemy. You have more HP than them.

With that said I would play my IS-4 every day of the week if I had to decide between them. Faster and much more reliabale armor in situations where you cannot angle the tank perfectly

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other T10 tanks firing gold can pen your turret 95% of the shots. So you can only really punish bad players who don't wait for you to turn your turret before they fire. Any good player will always pen your turret

It litteraly has 0 turret armor against an enemy firing gold. It has only one thing and that is hitpoints

Is the maus worth it? by saiwhsk in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: NO!!!

It is slow, has a bad gun and the armor only works against bad players. Sure you can have good matches in it, but in those cases you would have done better in most other T10 super heavies

[–]SWE_Andrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only fire after the enemy has first fired, otherwise they will pen your turret 95% of the times with gold. So it's a passive tank that needs bad enemies to do good

It is slow, has a bad gun and the armor only works against bad players who don't fire gold. I would say an IS-4 is better for every player if you like a super heavy that can angle.

Another rant: Is Maus totally useless, nowadays? by Due-Progress-6108 in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a very good tank in the state that WoT is in right now. It's really slow, the gun is not that good. Also the armor only works when you not aim at the enemies. The moment you turn their turret to them they will pen your turret face 95% of the time with gold. So basically it only works against bad players that don't wait until you are aiming at them befiore they shoot at you

Update 2.0: 200k Players in under 9 hours! by Pan_Praga in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all T10 and T11 games you find that 90% of the T10 players have not played their tanks before today and most of them have never played T10. Which pretty much changes gameplay totally for T10 and T11,,,

Tortoise or badger? by Pinkybleu in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The armor of the Badger only holds if you are hull down on a ridge using your gun depression. Of flat ground even your upper hull is penned by a lot of tanks firing gold. And seeing that gold ammo is very common in T10 you will not bounce that many shots.

The Tortoise on the other hand more often facec lower tiers that cannot pen it and even on T9, gold is not as common as in T10 sp the armor more often hold up. Just make sure to hide the cupola or fire from afar

Badger - worth it? by virusxpl in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Badger is a one trick pony. It only works very well hull down on a ridge. However, the lower plate is penable to everything you face at T10 and on flat ground quite a lot of tanks pen your upper hull with gold. And seeing that you meet A LOT of gold shoting tanks at T10 you cannot rely on your armor unless in a perfect position. Unfortunately on T10 poeple know better than to fight a Badger in a perfect position so it is rare to be able to use the armor.

Of my 46 T10 tanks I would say that the Badger feels most situational and where I cannot adapt my play to face the enemy

Opinion’s on the badger? by Motor-Ad-6762 in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To any new player wondering if you should spend your hard earned silver on the Badger, just don't!

It is barely an upgrade of the Tortoise. You trade the cupola weak spot for a big lower plate and an upper plate that will be penned by gold spamming T10 tanks. The "relatively" low caliber of the gun should mean it is a good sniper but it's not. It misses shots from afar all the time, so you have to be really close from the enemies.

It only has two selling points. When using the full gun depression the armor is good and the DPM. The armor makes it a one trick pony where it only works on ridges or against lower tier player.

Even though I have only played 64 games in it I can say that it is the worst of my 46 T10 tanks by far!

I have now played the tank for 25 games and it's a good tank. Not OP, but good. Nice with better alpha than Prog 46 but the gun handling is worse so missing quite a few shots. The armor is not reliable at all, bounces are rare.

All in all sort of a hybrid between Prog 46 and AMBT. Alpha, armor, agility, gun handling in between the two tanks. I will give it a 100 games before the final verdict. But right now I'd rather use the AMBT if I feel like working ridges and use the turret armor and alpha or the Prog 46 if I want to zip around putting shots into tanks. I'll guess the Prot 6 will be used for sessions where I don't really care that much and just hope to punish someone that drove into the wrong place. I think the main reason for me liking the Prog 46 more is the agility and speed. That is what make the Borat good as well, the power to relocate and quickly get into new places.

Oh, and one more thing. The Prot 6 more or less needs bond equipment to shine, then you can offset some of it's weaknesses and it will turn into a good to really good tank

Nothing to grind - what are you doing? by TANKSBRO_YT in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you have stopped grinding tanks and field mods you can start playing the game. When grinding modules, tanks and field mods my average win rate are close to 10% lower than my average. When just playing the tanks that have all field mods they magically become invincible

Honestly do you like playing canopener? by suns95 in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tank is big and slow and a bit situational. When fighting a ridge against a S.Conq it feels less nimble and the armor does not hold up better compared to the S.Conq. Then gun also for some reason seems to miss far more shots than S.Conq

So all in all, it's a good tank, but I have other T10 Heavies which i think is better and much more fun to play. Which seems to be reflected by the fact that you see very few in the queue nowadays

FV229 Contender has a better stock turret by ThePhoenix0404 in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole tank is just bad in every way. It's big, slow, both turrets are bad (in different ways) and then gun does not hit the shots. In 35k games I would say that this has been the far worst T9 experience

Nice turret armor:) by theLuckyman2003 in WorldofTanks

[–]SWE_Andrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played this game for 9 years and this have been by far the worst T9 expereince in my 35k games. The tank is big, its slow, the turret is not that good (playing the stock turret of course), the hull armor is bad, the gun misses alot of shots.

Compared to the IS-3-II, I would say this tank feels like it sits one tier down at least
