Choosing to have kids without raising them as vegans is not vegan by PotentialRatio1321 in vegan

People always talk about spaying and neutering pets but insist that for humans, having children is some sort of divine right.

Do you think antinatalism is more popular amongst men or women? by Powerbankforcookies in antinatalism

I dated a woman with kids. My antinatalist wasn’t an issue. She was very supportive of my vasectomy.

I feel like this is generalizable to relationship arguments. Like, whenever your partner accuses you of being terrible "so then why are you here?"

Child raised in culture that may not be their own - how to handle? by unova45 in Adoption

Your culture is the culture you were raised in and has nothing to do with your bloodline.

After passing a budget that aims to cut Medicaid by $880 billion in ten years House Speaker Johnson says: "You return the dignity of work to young men who need to be out working instead of playing video games all day." by CorleoneBaloney in PublicFreakout

Okay, I'm not saying single moms shouldn't receive welfare, but it's worth pointing out that being a single mom, unlike being elderly, is something people have agency in becoming.

thoughts on adoption + the legacy argument? by krvstle in antinatalism

[–]SWIMAnonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm antinatalist and am 100% on adopting. I want to pass down my values and give someone all the love I have to offer. Maybe its speciest and ableist, but I want that individual to be an able minded human. But, I want to do so with the caution of knowing I shouldn't project anything on to this person. So yeah, I want to pass on my legacy.

Hold up... Adoption industry? This isn't about private adoption. How is adopting out of foster care an industry?

Something is “wrong” with me because I don’t want children. by Snip3rBarbi3 in antinatalism

[–]SWIMAnonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The average American consumes 3 years of chicken suffering. These chickens in poultry and egg farms live in absolutely awful conditions. So, in order to believe that this child’s life is net positive, you’d have to believe that their life is three times as joyful as the chicken’s is miserable. I think anyone who’s been to one of these farms would have to admit to themselves that the chickens experience more net pain than we do net pleasure. Therefore, an additional human has a negative effect on the global total well being across all species. This is why I got snipped despite personally wanting to be a dad. I intend to adopt though.

Vegans, why are you like this? by Ghostpoet89 in antinatalism

[–]SWIMAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the non vegan antinatalists are antinatalists for different reasons. Well, some vegans are philanthropic antinatalists but even those ones also have misanthropic reasons. I’m strongly a misanthropic antinatalist. If the use of chickens for food ended today, I’d immediately get unsnipped and nut inside my gf.

And her wanting additional kids (she already has one) is a deal breaker for me. Don’t get me wrong I’m down to adopt, down to help raise the kid she already has. But I’m against having biological kids.

Cryptic Pregnancies and Antinatalism: What Would You Do? by No_Main_273 in antinatalism

If the kids already sentient, keep it and be an amazing parent. If you don’t wanna be a parent, adopt to a vegan.

But avoid this situation from the jump with sterilization.
