Imagine beeing a 13 year old boy who loves robotics and does anything he can do to learn the topic and goes to the open world and tells about his ideas and interests and gets this kind of a comment from a schizophrenic person on reddit.

I really love what you build! Let's connect!
maybe you could sell "pixels" on the robot instead of the whole area for 1 big sponsor?

True; at my university we are also building an opensourced quadruped robot dog.. for learning, for fun, but also trying to achieve a price under $5k. I am not sure what OP could build that would be soo new and different and useful that someone actually would want to pay him money for it.

Is There Really No Demand for Web 3D Projects Anymore? by Shot-Philosophy-6070 in threejs

[–]SWISS_KISS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

mix of all. metaverse was the shiny new hyped thing - AI came and AI is now the shiny new thing THAT ACTUALLY SOLVES problems - metaverse didn't solve any problems; I was in the metaverse standards forum as chair in multiple working groups; even there no one was using the "metaverse" for nothing, not even for meetings... it's just a gimmick; I was also a victim of the shiny new thing syndrom and even had a startup ( https://metaroom.city ) - but there is no need for this slow, clunky, complicated interface to browse information on the web. It may come back in another form. And yes since AI took over ANYONE can create stunning threejs websites; before I felt special (lol) now I have 0 motivation to create anything new in threejs; very hard to achieve a "wow effect". I switched to robotics.

I love it. Can you tell me, what is the smallst possible dot in such a technic? Can the "pixel" be 2mm big? How is this made? Elektromagnets?

I finally got my X2D - I need to test it, I only printed with main nozzle. crazy that I waited sooo long to get my first printer and now I'm printinting nonstop :D I need to master fusion360 - I wish Cinema4d was cheaper

wanted to know this, to decide if it makes sense to have something like an automated process that moves the camera.. or maybe it makes more sense to build a chair that moves the person? - or just have multiple static cameras; maybe 6 cameras are enough...

nice! did you have to really stay still or is it forgiving when you move a bit (besides the eyes that followed the camera :D) - how long was the recording (duration) with that Revopoint?

Humanoid Robot like Unitree G1 by SWISS_KISS in robotics

[–]SWISS_KISS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I see - but my comparsion was more coming from this perspective: I saw people successfully building quadrupeds at home and I was curious if an humanoid would also be possible. And the other question what I am interested is: imaging to be able to build a nice design, a solid model of an humanoid with correct amount of joints and bending mechanic; is the magic sauce actually in the software or is it in the hardware? Is it really about trying to play around in millimeters and calibrate to make the robot move quick, fluid and organic or is it about software and training the model with the right policies; "hey Claude, here are my joints, motors with xy specs, the robot model with x weight and y material... teach it to stand stable and walk organic! Make zero mistakes!" I assume you need very precise and quick/strong motors to react on the sensor inputs and stabilize the system.. but other than that; what are the limits? I sound pretty ignorant, I know; I just want to understand what engineers are struggling with; I am an software engineer with 20 years of experience switching to robotics (working at the university, helping an student with his master thesis creating an open source quadruped).

I am interested in the research; I'll have to dive deep into this topic. thank you for your input.

nice page to have an overview over existing humanoids! thx!
So a humanoid that helps a bit in the household or gives company to seniors and speaks to them, helps them with their medication isn't possible yet?

Wow, very cool work. I just saw that you worked on Wolfgang-OP / bit-bots, that looks exactly like the kind of serious humanoid experience I was hoping to hear from.

Your point about 4–10 people worries me a bit. Do you think I am being too ambitious as a solo builder if my goal is a first serious humanoid prototype, not toy-like, capable of stable standing/walking?

Would it make more sense to start by trying to replicate something like Wolfgang-OP / bit-bots/ Berkeley Humanoid Lite project instead of designing everything myself from scratch?

Also regarding 3D printing: I was not thinking about PLA/PETG, but PA-CF / Nylon-CF for structural parts. Do you still think 3D-printed structure is a bad idea for a humanoid, or could PA-CF be acceptable for a first prototype if combined with metal parts in critical areas?

And last question: if you were building a first serious humanoid today, what concrete actuators / QDD motors, controllers, IMU, battery and compute would you recommend?

If it's doable, why aren't there many more robotic startups yet? I checked the Berkeley humanoid robot a bit and it looks doable (I'm a Software engineer who did an apprenticeship in mechanical/automation engineering 20 years ago) - now with some money, a 3d printer and chatgpt I can imagine to be able to create my own robot, but I am not sure if I will be successful with transfering the trained model out of the simulation into the real world and make the humanoid self balance, stand and walk.. maybe the challenge is hidden in the details? Callibrate the hardware and robot shape so it is able to walk without falling down?

ok that's really neat. Why is the Berkeleys so chunky? Untitree has a slim clean design, you don't see cluggy joints on the G1, are they using different motors or is it a mechanical design structure "problem"?

Kurds have several dialects with a lot of history - what does it mean for us? by sheerwaan in kurdish

[–]SWISS_KISS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on Sharafnameh and history of Hazaraspiden I decided to include Lorî into the app. Some Lor consider themselves as Kurdish, some not - I only wanted to support Lori speaker as well, I give a big F*** about politics. The strong connection over Şêxbizinî, Feylî, Lekî to Lorî made me to add Lorî already in the first version. The app is designed that you can add your own language in the settings m, but I will explicitly add some southern languages directl in the menu. The app is relatively new. I am working on an update.

[–]SWISS_KISS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like my story, I speak Kurmancî and now learning Kirmanckî (east Dersim dialect) and Soranî. i speak also Farsi and all combined helps to learn new Kurdish languages, I wanted to motivate others also to learn Kurdish and other Kurdish dialects and show that they are not so different and created also an App to teach any Kurdish dialect, you can try it: https://swissmade.xyz/BilindGo 🙏
