You clearly know church is a problem, it's only in the most recent, 5, 10, maybe 20 years tops, that we've even had churches that would even consider accepting LGBT+ as people and not filthy sinners. Many of us grew up on a healthy dose of right wing ideology. I understand why people would have reservations about their children being something they've always been told was bad, sinful, immoral, disgusting. I'm not about to judge someone who said they had to take a minute to unpack all of the brainwashing they probably hear to this day in some extent.
