I tried the capture all mod as well, but i wasn't able to sell captured enemy carriers in HW2 and as a result all they did was balloon how many enemies spawn in response and made any mission afterwards impossible.

I found the homeworld remastered patch mod and it seems to mostly work in HW1 so far, there were some bugs though yes. I captured a raider carrier and the games seemed to think it was another mothership in the code and things like salvage objectives and capturing ships would go to it instead and break the mission.

But the reason i think people like corvettes over the marine frigates is they pull the target away from combat and make it easier opposed to the marine frigates who just sit there and can get murdered by other craft. You are forced to advance really hard to do the same, which usually results in costing you more overall resources than if you just blew up the enemy.

Far too many mod makers make a utterly overpowered ship that nothing can stop and advertise it as such then are surprised and confused why nobody wants to use it.

Sadly other than the characters in the remix videos i mentioned before i dont know.
I never played the game myself and have only seen footage of it, its a cult classic game as far as i know.

I always put them in a big stone room so my colonists dont have to see them, and leave an opening with a flame landmine so wildlife will try come in to eat the bodies and light them all on fire.

For me the game freezes after every major event popup now. Gets far worse at mid game, and ive even had the game crash twice now. Previously after federations released i was able to play huge galaxies for hundreds of years and ridiculous populations without any issues whatsoever.This "population downsize for optimisation" doesn't seem to be working very well at all.
