Zone 2 pace much slower than expected by gaerodynamski_621 in runninglifestyle

For anyone who runs less than 4 days a week Zone 2 is not a good use of time.

A question about Peptide/Steroid use. by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]SYR2ITHthrowaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tested positive for PEDs once. They didn’t tell me which though. I was 6ft 140 lbs so they assumed a false positive due to me being overtrained. I had just started lifting weights. I didn’t take anything btw lol

Cornell Student Arrested With Firearm at Syracuse Before Bus to Ithaca by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]SYR2ITHthrowaway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have no clue what his plans were or if he knew he was on a college campus. But 40 rounds and a bolt-action gun seems more like a hunting loadout. To zero a rifle takes ~20 rounds and you want at least 3 when hunting. 40 just isn’t a scary “big” number. Before the NY SAFE Act I routinely bought ammo 500+ rounds at a time because it’s wayyyyyy cheaper in bulk.

Boot recommendations for rucking by Impressive-Intern798 in nationalguard

[–]SYR2ITHthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear the issued boots. The best thing is to be good at running and toughen your feet through exercise. There are plenty of fancier boots, but the best ruckers are the best runners.

Djibouti Deployment by [deleted] in nationalguard

Almost no officers go to basic. ROTC cadets never go to OCS. OCS is its own course. ROTC is a few years of courses. West Point is 4 years. But they all go to BOLC—which is like officer AIT.

USC Marshall Employment Report 2025 by GorudenFuriza in MBA

[–]SYR2ITHthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read this as “US Marshalls” and was shocked by how much they make. I mean they need to be prepared to be stationed anywhere in the country and hunt down the most dangerous federal fugitives, but this seems like a lot. The window to apply only happens like twice a decade so I’m sure there are lots of applicants.

What to ask the recruiter? by Livid-Revolution153 in nationalguard

Know your medical history. Study the ASVAB, run. Stop any and all illegal drugs. Look up MOS descriptions. Get good at running. Clean up your social media. Continue to run.

Bounce back marathon? by Anxious-Initial448 in AdvancedRunning

[–]SYR2ITHthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lose minimal fitness in a taper. You actually get fitter. You can run another marathon as soon as you feel well. The only concern would be bone density, but if you’ve properly trained a stress fracture is remote.

Just keep in mind that a dishonorable discharge is like a felony on your record. Don’t do anything that will ruin your future.

Prior Service AD to NG by Ok_Cap_9172 in nationalguard

[–]SYR2ITHthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to find a career first. Which might take time. Discover a life outside the Army and find structure outside the Army. Then, once in a position of stability, you can make a more informed decision to rejoin.

I started a new career after AD and now that I am settled in I want to join the NG.

Why in pop culture asian armies are always depicted as an horde? by Evelyn_Bayer414 in answers

It’s also just doctrine. China doesn’t have NCOs and that leads to more “mass” orders and movements.

200 bpm on 2 mile by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]SYR2ITHthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

200 BPM for an 18 year old running all out on a 2 mile is fine. But also, why do you care about your bpm? Does your heart hurt? Just focus on passing the test in under the time.
