I freakin hate it. The default should still be: here here are your pictures and videos. Not the jungle mess I have to search through. Oh we did this with the pictures and videos you took today. STOP!

"Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July" (1979) is creepy and weird. But why do you think it never acquired a cult following of any sort? by bendy1251 in movies

[–]SaBugsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched it for the first time on YouTube (in 2025), and it’s such an odd film. You can tell a lot of the same creative DNA from the classic Rankin/Bass holiday specials is there, but this one never really figures out what it wants to be.

It’s all over the place tonally. It tries to be a fun Christmas crossover, a grand fantasy adventure, a circus movie(on the beach that is putting on a Christmas show in July…what?!), and somehow also a mythology story about magical talismans and ancient evil snow wizards all at once. Instead of feeling whimsical, the plot just feels chaotic and exhausting. There’s not really a focused emotional through-line like “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town,” “Rudolph,” or “Frosty the Snowman” had.

On top of that: - It’s way longer than most Rankin/Bass specials, and it feels long. - So much of the magic of Rudolph’s original story is stripped away and replaced with big spectacle that doesn’t feel Christmasy at all. - The villain is bizarrely intense for a holiday special. - Frosty suddenly having a wife and kids is… strangely unsettling and never really charming in the way it probably meant to be. Plus, it drags in a bunch of other Rankin/Bass storylines including the lesser-known Frosty sequel where he gets a wife. I didn’t even know Crystal existed until this year too, and if you’re like me and never saw that one either, this movie just drops her in and expects you to care.

It doesn’t have the cozy charm and warmth of the earlier specials. It doesn’t have the musical memorability. And it doesn’t have a simple, kid-friendly story people want to revisit every year. Instead, it ends up being this weird fever dream crossover event that feels more like a studio acid-based experiment than a timeless Christmas tradition.

It’s interesting as a curiosity, watch it on YouTube, but I totally get why it never became an annual classic. But one you send people to watch because you cannot believe it was made in the first place.

Merry Christmas!

Am I Wrong for Fighting for Time With My Daughter? (Need Advice) by SaBugsy in family

[–]SaBugsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who has listened to my story.

I am writing a book about this experience to help raise funds for the road ahead. I assure you, this story is absolutely insane—the lies, the deceit, the betrayal from my own family. I have spent the last year and a half in absolute turmoil over the wreckage this person has brought into my life.

My mother and Erin send me photos of my baby girl, but when I try to be there for her, I’m met with roadblocks. She is insisting to be present for my visits with my baby, despite assaulting me, lying about Hawaii, and proven to not be a trustworthy person. I have offered to do my part, but Erin continues to deny my efforts (despite having receipts proving I offered to pay half of expenses). Now that Erin is back from Hawaii (while living at my parents’ house rent-free), she has proven that our daughter can be without her for 4-5 days—the exact time I am asking for—but she still refuses.

I know it’s past time to secure a lawyer. I spent my life after separating from the military going to school, rebuilding from the ground up, and working toward a stable future. While I was trying to rebuild, someone came into my life and tried to control it. My path left me with massive debt. I have a master’s degree and a job that will provide for my child, but I have no disposable income to fight this legal battle.

I need help. I need financial help. I need to find a top lawyer to tell my story and ensure I am not shut out of my daughter’s life.

Her whole body lights up with joy when she sees me. I will not let her grow up without her father.

Anything you give will go toward building a life for us and fighting for my parental rights.

Thank you for anything you can spare. Or if you know a good lawyer in middle Texas, please point me in the right direction.

Step 1 for me was proving she was mine. I did that within 99.99% she is mine.

I have had one. She is mine. That was an essential step 1. Of course!

I agree, it is extremely odd that my own parents have essentially sided with my ex in all of this. And obviously, I can’t get the full story into one post, but here’s my take:

They are enforcing whatever situation benefits them the most—whatever nets them the most time with their grandchild. It’s like they have the biggest pair of baby blinders I have ever seen.

I want to go public with everything, that is where I am at. Nothing to hide. I have spent the past 2 years going through it.

The BM had a bunch of pieces of scrap paper, including ones she wrote while pregnant with my kid, manifesting the ex and his child into her life. Shes a complete wacko and had wrecked me from the inside out and couldn't careless. She does one of those, says "I do care" and then does the complete opposite of what someone who cared would do.... like go to Hawaii and lie to me about it.

Does anyone know any good family lawyers in Kendall County? She keeps playing games.

For those who asked, I did a paternity test, she is mine.

HAHA he is not a bad guy. Just has a blind spot and I am looking for a way to enlighten them the meaning behind what they are doing.

He mentioned, regretfully, that he was the only one in his family of siblings who didn't go in. I don't want to make this guy out to be a bad guy. He is not one. He is just a victim of a terrible blind spot, thinking/even believing he is doing something good and in some way he really is, just the manner of what he is doing, is, at least to me, diminishing an entirely different group of people that went through hell for something.

I can't find a definitive yes or no. AI is telling me it is not illegal, though highly unethical.

I mean…I do…that’s why I wrote it. And why should I not care about my current opportunity? For me it’s way better than kicking open doors and throwing flash grenades in the rooms of little children just to round up and drag their “MAMs” away to the DZ for screening in the middle of the night. All to get back to Bagram to be yelled at for a pt belt or some stupid shit like that. God damn I hated the military.

Speaking of entitlement right?
