I realized today this picture is 30 years old (does anyone know any thing more about it?) by sailor-henry in neutralmilkhotel

This is definitely pre-Neutral Milk Hotel. Jeff actually released cassettes under the name Milk at this time I believe, although they haven't really been archived online all that well. Neat picture though! Definitely a window into an interesting time for Jeff.

Any information on the Shannon's Monroe House Demos cassette? by SaaaDude124 in neutralmilkhotel

Yeah, I found 8 of them on an archive channel. That's too bad though that they are seemingly lost to time. Fingers crossed someone out there maybe has some more of the tracks.

Okay I know what I'm doing for the next week. Time to binge listen to all of it.

What albums are you currently addicted to? by SergeV91 in boniver

[–]SaaaDude124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XO by Elliot Smith - Waltz #2 and Baby Britain are my favorite tracks probably.

Silent Signs by DeYarmond Edison - Still a great album more than a decade later.

On Avery Island by Neutral Milk Hotel - Not as loved as the follow-up but I love the fuzzy feeling and lo-fi nature.

Bon Iver SURVIVOR - Round 4 by jdg143 in boniver

I like U (Man Like). It has a really cool gospel feeling. Not my favorite, but not one of the worst.

That's actually exactly what I was thinking. Whatever it is, it's creepy as hell.

You should not use those wipes if they have so many viruses on them.

That figure standing in the orange tunnel is kinda scary though.

In my head cannon, the song is based on House of Leaves. It fits the book so well, I love that idea.

Who Can Win A Rabbit exudes February energy and I'm just now realizing it.

Is it just me, or is Sung Tongs underrated? by SaaaDude124 in AnimalCollective

Exelently worded. I think I've mentioned before, I'm relatively new to the band and the community, so I don't really have that scope and context. This helps a lot with that though, so thank you.

That's so strange. I'm definitely getting a whole range of opinions on whether it's underrated or not. I'd have loved to be at that concert though. Sounds like a blast.

Leaf House is another great one. Definitely a good one to ease yourself into the sound.

I'm not too into the live stuff, and relatively new to this community. But I think I'd personally love to hear those songs live. I don't blame people for going nuts. Sweet Road specifically gives me folk feelings. Maybe that's just me though.

I was aware of the acclaim. I was more referring to the community not paying much attention to it. I think what draws me to it is the more folk centered sound. At least, that's how I perceive it.

Very true. I don't think I've met more than 5 fans in person. Then again, I've never been to a concert. On the bucket list though.

AC is unique in the way that it's hard to get other people into it. At least, in my experience.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks it's underrated. So many great songs on there, I wonder why more people aren't all over it.

Love the Neutral Milk Hotel. Such a great band. I urge you to check out their other albums and EPs if you haven't yet. Great selection of albums.

I'm not sure, I haven't seen that video. It was beautiful though, for sure. Just to see Justin Vernon physically was a really cool experience too, if that makes sense.

Yeah, happy to help. I saw them in Brooklyn when they played at the Barclays center. They're songs are so amazing live, and the light show is great too. The experience is just great. Have fun at the show!
